In spirituality and personal development, including groups such as Theosophy, an affirmation is a form of autosuggestion in which a statement of a desirable intention or condition of the world or the mind is deliberately meditated on or repeated in order to implant it in the mind. Affirmation could be viewed positively as a mobilization of one's inner resources, or negatively as a kind of self-induced brainwashing. Believers advise a general approach to self-improving statements; for instance, "I am making more room in my life for success every day" is considered a much wiser affirmation than "I will win the lottery today!" Affirmations are supposedly an effective method of programming or reprogramming the unconscious mind. They appear to be most effective when repeated in a quiet and restful state of mind and body. Other groups which use affirmations and "decrees", a related activity, include Church Universal and Triumphant, and the I AM Activity, as well as Alcoholics Anonymous.
Does it seem like your life consists of just "going with the tide" - and that you have no particular destination? Do you sometimes look at your life and ask, "Is this all there is? Does the pursuit of material things sometimes seem meaningless to you? Do you often feel as though life is passing you by?
When you *see* someone accomplish something, you start to *believe* in that person's ability. If a product delivers what it promises, you then believe that it works. When you see a "formula" yield positive results, you begin to believe in it.
We consider people lucky when, using no apparent effort, they just automatically run into favorable situations that we call luck. Luck isn't necessarily a result of karma or coincidence. I believe that these lucky people actually "unconsciously generate" their so-called luck.
Whenever someone speaks of healing through affirmations, many people dismiss it as esoteric - or even nonsense - and they tend to not take it seriously. However, there exist volumes of scientific evidence that affirmations are an effective approach to healing and the achievement of vibrant health.
So you desire to gain material things in life? Affirmations are usually effective in this respect - maybe even more so than with other desires because material desires often come with stronger emotional attachments.
Love is that ethereal experience that makes us feel completely alive. Where every sense is heightened, every emotion is magnified, our everyday reality is transcended, and life seems worthwhile. Love is the ultimate nourishment of the soul.
By definition, an affirmation is a statement repeated time and again either verbally or mentally-- or written down. The words of the affirmation statement - in themselves -when spoken, thought of, or written *without* a pictorial (visualized) or emotional connection -- make a very weak affirmation.
