I have two jobs, both of which require long hours of sitting. I am finding more and more that I sit hunched over. The result of which is that my love handles have lengthened and expanded into my beer-less beer belly. I guess you could say that my six-pack has devolved into a keg. :(

What are some good, low-budget (no money, no gym membership, limited time), targeted exercises that can strengthen my posture muscles and change my keg back into a six-pack?

I can help you with "no money" and "no gym membership", but "limited time"? Well, two out of three ain't bad.

1. Push-ups every day in the morning before you get ready for work (3 sets of 20)
2. Crunches every day in the morning before you get ready for work (3 sets of 30)

If you already have a floor in your bedroom, you won't need to purchase anything to do these exercises. Do them consistently for 3 months and you'll like the results. I would definintely put these on your "things I don't like to do, but will be good for me" list.

In addition, you need to get serious about nutrition. Eat a balanced diet (5 food groups) and stay away from junk food, and take a one a day multi vitamin.

Finally, mix in some physical activity like walk for 15-30 min. each day after lunch, play b-ball or soccer in the yard with your kids a few nights a week, take a long walk / jog with your wife on the weekend.

Whatever you decide to do, the simple act of reducing excess calories and increasing physical activity will bring results. The quality of those results (how much, how fast) is up to you. The more you do the better your results are bound to be.

Why limit the time? Make it a way of life and you will reap the benefits for years to come.

How's that for free?
