Has anyone else had any heart problems. I recently had a heart attack, and have not been able to find a decent board to discuss meds, cardiac rehab, etc. Hopefully, none of you have had any serious health problems, but if there is one of you out there, I would love to discuss the above mentioned topics. :)

I was already a vegetarian, non-smoker and non-drinker before I had the attack. My main thing was weight gain, hypertension and stress. My blood pressure was on the rise for the last 5 years, but I tried to NOT go on medicine. I did the dash diet, but my hypertension is hereditary, so nothing really helped. I am doing cardiac rehab and losing weight now. I am also on medication to control my hypertension. I still have the stress, and that is the main problem now....I have a 16 year old daughter who is kind of out of control.

Are you certain that your hypertension is inherited? There are other causes such as obesity, lack of exercise, poor nutrition and alcohol. I don't believe in medicine. When i'm not feeling well, i take supplements and nutritious protein shakes.

I didn't believe in medicine before my heart attack either. Now I have to take it. I am stressed because I am going through a rough time with my 16 year old daughter.

I assume the character of the good cop more easily than the bad one, so I haven't been the greatest disciplinarian over the years. I have raised her on my own, and the missing father figure has been detrimental to the situation. She also has a lot of hurt concerning her father's obvious neglect. I feel for her, so I bend over backwards to try to make her happy...that has back fired on me.
