View Full Version : Edward de Bono
Scarlet Warrior 04-17-2004, 01:41 AM Has anyone here read any of Edward de Bono's books?
His main themes are lateral thinking and creativity. I have read several of his books including:
Lateral Thinking
Parallel Thinking
Six Thinking Hats
I am Right You are Wrong
Textbook of Wisdom
I would not call him a success author as such, though his work is definitely geared towards self improvement. His writing is very clear and easy to understand and I would recommend having a read of his material to anyone. I can honestly say that his books have changed the way I think for the better.
Never heard of him Scarlet. I will check it out though. Do you have a favorite?

Here is his official website:

Yes I know what Google is. :)
I was saying that I had never heard of him before her post and asking her if out of those books she listed, she had a favorite one. Trying to get an idea of which one to get a hold of first.

I tend to talk to everyone in the same way, even if they know what google is or not. :)
So I tend to assume that people do not know what google is. Sorry if it came over funny. :o
No problem...I thought maybe you misunderstood when I was asking her if she had a favorite, that I meant a bookmark...Like asking, do you have his site bookmarked. Anyway, I'm starting to confuse myself. Anybody know how to find google.com? ;)

I read some Edward de Bono a few years ago.
The topics were "PO thinking" and "random words", but I can't remember which book it was, but most likely it was Laterral Thinking.

Umm...errr... I am actually a 'he'... LOL!
Do I not sound masculine enough? :p
But to answer your question, I do not have a particular favourite. 'Lateral Thinking' is quite good as he puts forward different techniques you can use to look at things from a different perspective. Using these techniques can really help to come up with very creative solutions to various problems.

In 'Lateral Thinking' he does discuss the 'PO' technique in depth, but he does make references to his various techniques in all of the books I have read.

Do you know gone with the wind? No, nothing to do with how you sound. :)

No, I haven't seen or read Gone With the Wind. I guess there must be a female named scarlet.
No worries... :)
richardhutnik 04-30-2004, 10:19 PM I like de Bono's stuff. What I remember most from his stuff is the L-Game.

Scarlet Warrior 04-30-2004, 10:50 PM I have heard him mention the L-Game in his books, but I've never actually played it. I'll check out the link and have a look...
