Anybody think this would be a good idea:
I was thinking of buying some really nice domain names that people really hadn't thought of, and then create a couple of logos for the domain name, and then selling both as a package. And if this goes well maybe even make templates that go with the site theme/category.
Good idea?

Sounds good. Just be prepared to hold onto them for awhile until a buyer comes along. It may not be an instant turnaround, but people have made good money doing that.
Yes, I think it's a good idea.

Thanks guys... If other people have done it before successfully, I might be able to sell a domain name or two. =)

I think ita a fantastic idea, but it's the marketing of the products that going to sell them, consider how you're going to attack that. i'd be intersted to discover that avenue from you

Very interesting.
Corporate logo's and corp. identies is an area that sparks great interest for me. In fact, I have some experience in this area. I've been told I am superb at this. I have always had a natural interest in how a company creates and presents it's public image. I never thought about approaching it from this angle. I am intriqued!
Keep talking I'm listening...

So this would be the "Value-Added" domain name? Interesting! I would advertise it as a loose idea, not a strict set-in-stone Logo. I for one would want SOME say in My logos!

I tried this idea once a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't receive too much interest, so that was a little bit discouraging.
But I've had more luck creating logos. I'm in the process of the creating ten logos for different people since I ran a portfolio-building special on a site for webmasters. It is a lot of work for $15 a pop. But I'm raising my prices when I'm done with these. =)

To play the devils advocate here, I think it's a bad idea. People tried that when the dot com bubble started, and it died out after that. It is so easy to make a small change to a domain to get something close enough to what they want that you would most likely be left holding a lot of domains that you had no use for
On the logo side of things, canned logos are generally a bad idea. Every company has huge differences. Two cell phone companies are totaly different so a log that may work for one won't always work for another. It's like a good financial plan, it needs to be tailored to the client. If you have the skills, why not market yourself as someone who can produce corporate identities? It would be more targeted, more efficient, and more profitable IMO.
Good luck which ever way you end up going :thumb:
