Brag and advertise! Pat 07-22-2006, 04:59 PM I too am interested, because I'm trying to set that sort of thing up too, however, given the notice by the admin about "advertising", I wonder where "bragging" crosses the line. Maybe Tom could chime in so that no one breaks the spirit of the rules around here. skinnyinvestor 07-28-2006, 02:11 PM I have always been interested in developing an online income stream as well. Hopefully someone here is willing to share their experiences. Highschoolrichkid 08-05-2006, 02:08 PM Sorry guys, I replied to this thread, thinking that people were looking for something but I guess I crossed over the line again... :( The admin's probably have me on 24 hour watch! :lildevil: Ha,ha Anyway, check out my sig's if you're interested in something... 'nuff said about that. Watchdog 08-22-2006, 09:22 PM I have built a community for the sheet metal industry www.TheSheetMetalShop.com / It is a far cry from what I expected for the past few years, yet it does generate a nice chunk of change that allows me to grow the site pay for the server and my other domains. So there is no out of pocket expence. Google used to treat me nicer, but they now tightened the wallet up and we're not getting rich but it adds up nicely. The sponsor on the top of the site has been with us for four years and is the bread and butter as well as the sponsor on the side bar. We charge 2900.00 a year for the side bar banner (non-rotating) the last time I looked we were indexed by google 34000 times and under the first ten in several million searches search google- sheet metal and were 4 in 30 to 50 million searches, search sheet metal tools and were in the first couple of searches, search sheet metal books and were in the first of several million and so on...you really can't get better search placement then what we have so it's a direct reflection of the content and traffic to the site... How did we do it? lot's of hard work and I couldn't afford advertising at first, so i wrote for an industry magazine for a few years to get into 23,000 shops a month..built a library from old books I collected and work work work...would I do it all over again, yes..I'm doing a similar site for facilities called FacilityTalk.com..I'm hoping it will dwarft the sheet metal site, I have feeling from industry feed back that it very well could turn into a monster and this is going to offer paid subscriptions:) totally against the grain..any feed back on how I can improve would be very welcome :rulz: |
