View Full Version : Why do you want more MONEY?????

As I mentioned in another post (Free Lunch), I went to workshop today to learn about "internet wealth".

Obviously, for a free lunch (which was average) and a free business planner (which is not bad), they were "back end selling"--which is o.k. They were offering a "full day" training for purchase.

Anyway, one of the things the presented discussed was the question "Why do you want more money?". Now, I can't lie...I WANT MORE MONEY...but I don't think I had ever really thought of WHY!

He gave his "top 10 list" and I'm thinking his Number 1 reason is pretty much my number one reason too.

But my question to you is "Why do YOU want more money?".

Come on...be honest!

Here's his top ten list:

10. Establish as savings account or emergency fund
09. Help family, charity or religious causes
08. Pay for education or private schooling
07. Invest in or expand a business
06. Buy new car, truck, boat or other BIG toy
05. Take (more) vacations
04. Home ownership (first or BIGGER)
03. Retire early and successful
02. Security (i.e., multiple income streams)
01. GET OUT OF DEBT !!!!

Anyone want to chime in with their reason(s)?????

I tried to come up with a specific reason, but only one word came to me:

freedom.

I am in a good financial position now, and I am very grateful for it. So, wanting more money is not really an issue for me. I have other issues. ;)

If I had more money, I would like to give more to charity and to some of my less affluent friends.

1. maintain good health (also for love ones)
2. Financial security at old age (also for love ones).
3. Charity
4. and all the other things on your list......................

Yep, I agree that money gives you freedom. It also gives you independence and more CHOICES. Hmmm...let me see...should I go to the Bahamas or Hawai for a vacation? That's a choice I would LOVE to make.

I agree with Hipmom on the Freedom and Choices. Right now I have a secure job without the financial security. I stayed in the business a little too long, but the upside of it all is that it really made me examine my motives and desires and motivated me to go for my dreams.

Here are my top 10:

Abundant time to serve other people
Get out of debt
Help my parents and siblings become debt free and financially free
Take educational and entertaining vacations with my family
More time to raise and teach my children
More time to read, study and learn
Freedom from paycheck-to-paycheck living
Resources to design and build the house that I want
Create a healthier lifestyle
To experience life rather than be ground down by it

Why do i want more money?!
The question doesn't even compute.

I want money because being broke makes life suck.

I want more money so i can fill my bed full of money
and get intimate with them... :)

Bro, I love it...As Anthony Robbins once jokingly quiped, "Those people who say money doesn't by happiness, don't know where to shop."

With all due respect High Schooler, I personally think you've got it wrong.:tiphat:

Here's a bit of verbage (a preview of sorts) from a project I'm currently working on under a section on the myths of money:

Directly relating the presence or absence of money to the presence or absence of happiness is an extremely simplistic and unrealistic comparison. While it may be true that many very wealthy people are indeed extremely happy people, I would submit to you that this is a case where correlation does not equate to causality. In fact, I believe it’s actually more plausible to conclude that rather than wealth causing happiness, that happiness actually places one in a much more viable position to attract and experience wealth. Think about it for a moment. Doesn’t it seem so much more likely that doing what you love and loving what you do would contribute to great happiness? I would also submit to you that those who are involved in a labor of love are more likely to experience not just the reward of happiness but financial rewards as well. Likewise, it would be next to impossible to truly achieve lasting wealth and all that it has to offer, doing something you really don’t enjoy. © Copyright 2006 Randall M. In all honesty, 20 or so years ago (when I was in high school), I can honestly say in retrospect, I didn't get it.

Hey,

Actually, if anybody had it wrong, it was Anthony Robbins, since I am quoting him in my post, and Anthony Robbins was joking, which I also pointed out in my post...

But beside that point, have you ever been broke? I mean really broke, where bill collectors are calling you, they're threatening to shut off your electric bill because you can't pay it, they've repoed your car?

I have. Been there, done it, bought the t-shirt...

As a popular saying from the seventies said, "Poverty Sucks!!"

Money may not by happiness, but trust me, neither does being broke...

I'm not sure who said this, I think it was Ella Fitzgerald, but I am not sure...

"I've been unhappy and poor, and I've been unhappy and rich...Trust me, it's still better being unhappy and rich."

Really....sounds like a fascinating story. Why don't you tell us how a "high school kid" gets himself into a position where bill collectors are calling the house (presumably his PARENT's house) and repossessing "his" car.

I think we'd all like to get to know you a little better.

I've been broke too, but i wasn't silly enough to let it get so out of hand that things were being repossessed! I can understand it if you had a family to feed for example and that came first, but in line with what RMG is pointing out, i doubt you had a family in highschool...or now.

RMG, i like that snippet you posted. It makes alot of sense. To me it seems like a two sided coin though. Doing something you love brings you happiness. But i also think you may not have the freedom to find what you love till you have a bit of money also. Still, i also believe you can achieve most things you set your mind to, so i suppose the freedom money creates just makes it a bit eaiser. Finding what you love certainly isn't impossible without money.
I best stop that point before i start going round in circles with it. I think you get what i'm saying lol.

First of all, some of you already know...but for those who haven't...READ MY BLOGS...it's right in there that I am not the kid that wrote the ebook...it is clearly written in the blogs, plus, I never said it was me...

I am an affiliate, though...I know Eddie, and he is a whiz kid...And he really has made that much money, whether you choose to believe him or not, that's totally up to you...

If you read my blogs, you'll see that I am a salestrainer/sales person...I train salespeople to make money...

Guess what? The biggest problem I have with salespeople isn't the fact that they don't know how to prospect, present, and close...the biggest problem I have is helping salespeople straighten out what's between their ears when it comes to money...once I get that straightened out, they turn into money machines...which makes the company owners and the sales managers very happy, indeed!

Directly relating the presence or absence of money to the presence or absence of happiness is an extremely simplistic and unrealistic comparison.

It's not only simplistic and unrealistic, it is simply not true.

A good example would be a person who is a complete mess, and
suddenly he wins the lottery, he might not be able to create any
lasting happiness with his new found wealth.
Having money is of course no guarantee for happiness.

I believe it’s actually more plausible to conclude that rather than wealth causing happiness, that happiness actually places one in a much more viable position to attract and experience wealth. Think about it for a moment. Doesn’t it seem so much more likely that doing what you love and loving what you do would contribute to great happiness?

Happiness is created by realizing your dreams, that's what i think anyway.
You are happy the more you manage to take those things you have always desired out of your head - and into reality.
And you are unhappy to the extent that you have failed to realize your
dreams, that is your dreams only remain in your head.
You are unhappy because you know you have always wanted,
but you have never had.

And how money plays into it is that you simply cannot afford to
realize all of your dream.

I would like a supercar, can't have that now cause i aint got the cash.
I want the dreamhouse, can't have that now cause i aint got the cash.
I want to travel, can't do that now cause i aint got the cash.
Etc, ect...

Money gives you the means to realize your dreams, and i that
way contributes a lot to your happiness.

I have to agree with Cathy on this. Please take this constructively--the name COMBINED with your quick wit and ease of communication (both of which are strengths) instead create more of a sense of punkish arrogance. I think if folks knew you were a 35 year old father of two (and I'm making that part up), your personality would be viewed as a bit more genuine.

Just my two cents.:D

Pat, I appreciate your comments,...although I probaly rub people the wrong way with the name "highschoolrichkid" IT WORKS...I don't know about anybody else, but I really don't bother going in to anyone's website in their sig file...The only reason I went into Coach's is because he started a thread on please review my website type of thing(which, I don't know if the Coach realized it or not, but that is a great way to get others to go into you're site--post a thread saying--please review my website," type of thing.)

The stats on the ebook page have been staggering...I may tick people off, but they can't help going in to my site to see what it's all about...and my conversion rate is one of 20 people BUY the ebook...

I have tested both...In another forum I use close to my real name...I don't use highschoolrichkid at all...and I put only the website in my sig...like it or not, the stats don't play out as well...sad, but true, I guess. I use Highschoolrichkid, and it ticks people off, but my hits on my website and my sales increase...go figure...
