Wondering if anyone has read this book by Joel Osteen. Joel is a Christian Pastor so the book obviously has a very Christian slant to it (i.e., it may not be for everyone).
I read it and I liked it...alot. I have a very spiritual side to me and this book "popped" into my hands just when I needed to read it (and yes, I know some would call that mere coincidence, superstiousness, serendipity, etc.). I call it what it is to me....my God and my universe taking care of me.
Anyone else?
It's a good read. Joel has been criticized by many for not being a "real" preacher (whatever the heck that means), in large part because his messages are so extremely down-to-earth and applicable to today's real world problems that we all face. Many consider him to be soft on theology and heavy on pop-psych. But then again, there are some people who complain because their ice-cream is cold.

Pat: Stumbled across a copy a while back and read it. His book is such an easy read and not preachy.
I wouldn't mind visiting his mega church one day and see what he is like preaching live :)
Anybody who is not considered mainstream is always going to have their critics, that fact is he is certainly tapping into an audience who otherwise may not go to church so at the end of the day the question is whether or not he is helping to shape a better world or not. If he is then i have no problems with the style in which he does it. :)
I too have read this book and enjoyed it greatly. If you really want to experience his preaching, you can see his weekly message on his website recorded live from his Houston church. The church is held in a HUGE venue that used to host the Houston Rockets.
