View Full Version : Eating for Energy
junto 08-07-2006, 02:46 PM I am fairly knowledgable in diet and excersise but I was wondering if anyone has some insight on diets that increase energy. I assume one would probably eat light and frequently, shy from red meat etc. What are some guidlines that if followed will add a great amount of energy and alertness too my life? THanks
Jonathan
Reeveso 08-08-2006, 02:23 PM Just make sure you exercise, do some deep breathing, and eat healthy foods...try to stay away from starchy carbohydrates.
Carbs are good for you in small quantities, and they should be from fruit or a vegetable, not potatoes or any kind of bread or anything like that.
I don't believe in staying away from red meats, as they contain alot of good nutrients and minerals for your body, and the fat thats in it is natural fat, not the fat that's in things like chips, doritos, etc.
like nuts...nuts are extremely fatty, but its good fat. There was a study that showed people who ate an extra 500 calories of nuts per day gained no extra weight (i forget how long hte study went)
You can check out my blog if you'd like.....http://roadtoperfecthealth.blogspot.com
its new now but will get alot better as time goes on. Right now i'm working two different jobs 5 days per week at each, so I have barely any time and its pretty much a weekend thing...but in the blog i'll cover things like this in more detail :)
Coach Morse 08-09-2006, 01:57 PM You might consider increasing the amount of whole grains you eat. These are high in fiber, protein, B vitmins and good carbs that can really help fuel your metabolism. I have done this with good results.
Of course, eating a balanced diet is key; 5 food groups, proper portion sizes, drink lots of water and stay away from junk food and empty calorie soft drinks. I've done this also with good results.
You might also consider taking at least a multi-vitamin to supplement your diet. Study after study show that most people simply do not get all their body's daily requirements by food alone. Again, something I do. First I did some research and spent time making a food journal so I could see what nutrients and how much I was getting from food each day. I then used my findings so I could more accurately supplement my diet with vitamins. (the hardest thing about this, for me, has been taking them consistently, but I find when I am taking them consistently I feel better).
And finally, consistent exercise helps relieve stress and increase strength which in turn give you more energy (just don't over do it, and make sure you eat enough of the right foods to support an active lifestyle).
...oops, one more and finally, get enough sleep - 8 hours maximum - 6 hours minimum. It's always okay to take a short nap during the day if you feel tired.
All of these are things I do and have found work the best when I put them all together.
Hope this helps.

Reeveso 08-09-2006, 03:44 PM where did my post go? lol...I had one but it's not here now
Sorry about that, Reeveso. It's a long story, lol. Anyway, it's back. :)
Reeveso 08-10-2006, 05:17 AM ooo...was it because I put my blog in there? I guess I should have just said "u can click on the blog link in my sig"...if thats the reason - sorry bout that I wrote it real quick before I went to work lol
No, nothing to do with you. It was an accident, several posts got deleted. I was undeleting them before I even saw your post asking what happened.
Reeveso 08-10-2006, 01:50 PM ahhh I gotcha...well, no harm no foul :thumb:
paneagle 08-10-2006, 04:54 PM diet exercise
agree that good breath is good
second - try 5 rites or a yoga sun exercise
third I have found tai chi very good for increased energy
there is something in it untangible but dynamic there.
I do a somewhat non-formal 'intuitive' approach with breathing..
laughter and humor surely increases energy
being honest and verifiable in communication, true to your word
helps increase energy
cooperation and helping others also feels good, energizes
I try moderate diet with grains, nuts, a large meal at noon
less food at night, fruits/juices in morning
consider myself very energetic

Reeveso 08-10-2006, 09:38 PM another little silly, stupid thing to do is to just "act energized" lol...I like to do this at work when i'm having a bad day
just do something completely out of the ordinary, like jump around and yell or something and make yourself laugh. It will almost always get you energized just because it's funny and it'll prob get your blood flowing too a little
Coach Morse 08-16-2006, 03:04 PM How's it coming junto? Have you come across something that is working for you?
junto 08-17-2006, 05:39 PM I have plenty of info to go off of Coach. I have been meaning to get into Tai Chi lately and the mention of it may have just prompted me to put my thoughts into action. Acting energized is a great idea too. The "As If" theory says if you act vibrant, confident or any state for long enough it will become reality. Why don't they teach this stuf in school??? Thanks to everyone for the info.
Coach Morse 08-17-2006, 07:14 PM Go for it!!!
Tai Chi junto... :yippee: :bouncy: :yippee: :bouncy: (these are the two most energetic emoticons to choose from) :D

Yeah Tai Chi Chuan! Yang style... i tried that when I was in highschool, good for the health 'coz it is mainly focused on breathing...
'though i don't prescribed it as a good self-defense martial art except if you believe in the extraordinary power of the "chi"
act energized - sometimes work for me. try it with some upbeat music. :thumb:
Hi,
I'd at least look at this site. We have the book and use it daily.
We've been going to Dr. Galland's office for years, and he is "top notch" when it comes to the nutrition thing.
He's just joined "forces" with his son to recently write this book. While the "energy factor" may not be the prominent focus of the book, eating well certainly is.
The recipes are very easy, time to cook and prepare is short, but you have to realize you are buying and cooking a lot naturally.
You'll see when you get to the site.

inevitable_success 08-22-2006, 08:19 PM Weightlifting has given me TREMENDOUS energy. It's an indescribable feeling. The energy just flows through your veins 24/7 and the amount of things you can get done can be surprising! I highly recommend lifting weights for energy.
paneagle 08-24-2006, 03:29 PM I've been using spirulina energy - in form of cubes
use spices on foods in cooking
light diet and many meals in day, especially for thin body people
I lot of energy is lost in poor or delayed decision making
stress is most produced by lack of decisiveness
there is a new master protocol you could check
for healing and remissions of cancer and other dis-ease
it is at neotechspecifics.com
a focus of energy is imagination, apply focused imagination
in between activity periods...keep looking for or
seeing the visions or messages (cues) you get from life...
observe and obey those with common sense..
we are always getting these anticipation cues..
soimetimes in feelings..
the otherside of deceit, in fact its opposite,
is called fully integrated honesty, not just being honest,
but really effectively clear and sharp..
a best clue here is to be honest, forthright,
dont let yourself lose energy in self deceit
or self doubt...or by worldly deceit, called neocheating..
this loses a real lot of energy...can defeat us.
I also use the Hu exercise for sound chanting - it works
simple....Huuuu... the eckankar people use this one.
