View Full Version : Focal Point - Brian Tracy
Paul@Pittsburgh 10-16-2006, 10:01 PM This was one of my favourite books when I read it and I am thinking of running through it again soon. It ties in very nice to AR's TOYL / Covey in terms of top down design for your life and also feeds nicely into 20,000 and 30,000 ft areas if you are doing Getting Things Done.
Has anyone else read Focal Point? What did you think?
Paul
Highschoolrichkid 10-16-2006, 10:07 PM Hey, Paul.
Yeah, Focal Point is a great book. But I think Tony Robbins' Unlimited Power basically says the same thing that Brian says (although Tony Robbins is a little bit more flashy than Brian Tracy.) Anthony talks about "modeling" the specific actions that others take to produce results. Brian says to focus on the twenty percent of activities that produce result. They're both saying the same things, although Brian has a more conservative style than Anythony Robbins.
Just my two cents...;)
Haven't read Focal Point but I liked Maximum Achievement.
I'll have to check it out.
Have not yet read Focal Point but have found EVERYTHING that I have read and listened to by Brian Tracy to be GREAT!. Highly recommend him. :thumb:
I really enjoy reading books by Brian Tracy. I am currently reading, "Change Your Thinking Change Your Life." It has alot of excellent information and there's action exercises at the end of each chapter. I also receive an online e-course with Brian Tracy - 21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires.
There's a short message and food for thought.
Inside-Out 10-26-2006, 07:00 AM That's one great book. :thumb:

I was thinking about taking an e-course through Brian Tracy. What exactly does it entail? Do you reccomend it? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with an e-course, but I love his CDs. He is so easy to listen to and learn from.
Brian Tracey's e-couse is like a little audio blurb with good infl. Some of the other audio's he has that you can download for a small fee are:
21 Great Ways to Stay in Love Forever.
" " " to Meet and Marry the Man of Your Dreams.
" " " Manage Your Time and Double Your Productivity
" " " Get Paid More and Promoted Faster
" " " Hire and Keep the Best People
" " " Become a Sales Superstar
" " " Become an Outstanding Manager
" " " Get the Job You Really Want
" " " Build a High Profit Business
" " " Start and Build Your Own Successful Busines
" " " Meet and Marry the Woman of Your Dreams

If you are interested in his e-course, please send me your e-mail address and I will pass into him. I will be honest, if I send him 5 names and e-mail addresses, I will receive his "Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life" audio teleseminar for FREE. I do understand if you don't want me to have your
e-mail. He does share some excellent information. Maybe let me know your feelings on that. Thanks:wave2:

Nothing to be hide or to be ashamed of Peh, but thank you for being honest. I am really interested in his courses. I have many of his programs and he is absolutely incredible. His programs are jampacked with practical knowledge and wisdom. I don't have to tell you that. Here is my email: Jonnyw82@hotmail.com
Highschoolrichkid 10-28-2006, 05:39 PM As a salesman during my "day" job, I can tell you that Brian Tracy's set, The Psychology of selling, is one of the best sales training tape sets ever made. I have owned that set for years, and I still listen to it about once a month. :thumb:

How does this book compare to his other books? If you've never read any Brian Tracy, where should you begin?

Maximum achievement is a great place to start.

Groovy! I'll add it to my reading list!!! Thanks Scoots! :yippee:
Spider 02-17-2007, 09:22 AM I'll second 'Maximum Achievement.'
Brian Tracy tends to be quite dry - not as passionate as TR, for example, and not as witty and anecdotal as Zig Ziglar. Reading Brian Tracy is somewhat like cramming for an engineering degree in self-improvement. But that means there's a lot of solid information crammed in the book, so read it slowly.
In my view, Maximum Achievement could sit beside Awaken The Giant Within as the only book you'll ever need.
Kritter 02-17-2007, 10:03 AM I also really enjoyed Brian Tracy's Goals!
GR8FL2BME 02-18-2007, 09:45 AM I love this Success Books subforum....everyone here has contributed in such a positive way! I'm going to have to check out Brian Tracy - I haven't read any of his stuff yet. Maybe I'll get it in Audio form.
It'd be interesting to find out how many of the gals here have read Brian Tracy....

Like Spider said, Maximum Achievement is a little dry, but very good.
I would put Focal Point, Maximum Achievement and another one called Turbo Coaching (which is better for businesses) on my list. Focal Point and Turbo Coaching are I think easier reads, but lots of questions and exercises. MA has good text. He has another sales book (can't remember the title). I have Goals and some of his other books and to be honest I haven't read all of them yet, but I think they would be later reads after the others.
On the audio side - I found his Science of Self Confidence, and the Psychology of Achievement (the first N-C audio I ever got) to be great. I also saw him live in the UK several years back and the Psychology of Achievement was pretty much like his 3 day seminar.
Note - if you are an Audible book subscriber - there is one Brian Tracy programme - success mastery university or something like that - which is 11 CDs, which you can get as part of your membership monthly download (only $16.95/month). That is a great bargain in my opinion.

Although, even the audios are full of activities and action at the end. Brian tells you when to stop and do!
One thing I have found is that if you don't do, you don't get!

That may be on there too Scooter, but there is definately another programme - it's bigger than Pyschology of Selling (which I have on tape and totally agree, that's an awesome programme!).

I will have to see if I can find out what it is.
He is by far one of the best sales teaches.
Another one, although very MLM oriented, is Professional Inviter by Tim Sales. Yes thats really his name. Its a practical lesson in how to communicate in a sales environment focussed on MLM as thats where Tim is from.

Yep, those exercises are amazing tools. The perfect tool can't fix anything though when it's just sittin' in the toolbox gatherin' dust. :)
