I think there are some server issues. All the notification emails are suddenly bouncing...I've got them looking into it now.

Me thinks your new 48 members from TR who are non stop posters and chatters are maybe causing you problems!! ( OH NO!! :yikes: ) Please don't kick us out.... Noooooooo!!!!!

I know every time I have been in the chat room... 3 or 4 times the last couple of days... it just all of a sudden will freeze up on me. I have to leave, close my browser and come back in again. Think it's to do with running XP? I never had that problem with 98 SE.... I clicked on the options telling it I was using XP.... I know a couple of other people have had the same thing happen too. I was having a conversation with someone and the person just disappeared. He no sooner came back, then I disappeared! LOL :hmm: Hope it isn't me being a blonde.... I didn't break the chat room I hope....

I'm using XP and so far, not having a problem with getting kicked out. I'm just having the normal problem of being a digitally challenged newbie in the chat room.:o

Does that mean the chat room doesn't like newbies, if it is kicking out only new people??!! LOL :bonk:

My suggestion? Take up a collection from all the new forumites if you need to. I'm sure most of us success driven people would be willing/able to make a small donation to our new home.

-CP

p.s. I've also had the chatroom lock up on me and kick me out. I just figured it was a good judge of character.

And as I've said elsewhere, folks, click on as many Google ads here as you can - as I understand the Google ad situation, Tom gets paid for every click from this site.

Tom, do you also get paid when we purchase or only click? I'm a book addict and buy a few from amazon every month. Don't know if you're their affiliate.

Also, just clicking on the link is enough right? If that's the case, I know Tom probably won't ask, so I second Spider and Cat, Let's click on the links guys. Only takes a couple minutes of your time. Some of them are actually interesting.

I don't know if this is true, but I've heard
it's not a good idea to promote Google Ad
clicking on one's site.

If the Google AdSense people notice a sudden
massive click rate, they could come and see
what's going on. If they see that it is openly
encouraged, they cancel the ads.

So if this is true, I'd advise to delete the
posts that reference this, and click in
private. Maybe send encouragement via
pm or chat.

Wouldn't want Tom to get in trouble...

While I like to see people clicking them, from what I understand, Google really frowns on any sort of collusion or urging people to click. At any rate, there is a donation plugin that works with paypal, and I will attempt to install it tonight. :)

Tom, would making some sort of contribution through Amazon gift vouchers also be okay? I understand these are quite anonymous too.

As we seem not to have the power to delete our own posts on this board, I hereby give Tom permission (as if that was necessary) to delete any of my posts referring to clicking on ads.

Furthermore, there has been talk of starting a Book Club thread and I suggested we could have all referrenced books linked to Tom's Amazon affiliate code. If you are not an affiliate of Amazon or would rather we use Barnes and Noble, Tom, that will work, too.

Is there some way you could place your affiliate code on all book links so that we aren't seen to be cheating any pay-per-click advertising but you would earn commission on all books actually sold through your site?

Tell us how you would like to work this, so you get the benefit of our presence.

(Or you could use my affiliate link, if you don't have one!!!)

I took an online Internet Marketing
course in July, conducted by IM Gurus.

You don't want to get Google mad at you.
When they ban you, they don't take you back.

Or so I was told.

It must be the settings on your personal computer then. Do you have "java enabled" ? Check your settings!! Java usually needs to be enabled. At least what I remember from my yahoo chat days. Don't know if it still applies to chat rooms today. I am assuming it is still that way though....

Squibbles, please check your PMs. In order to help you, I need more details about the problem.

Jennihul

squibbles gets into chat and then gets kicked out. Over and over. Sometimes he/she is in for a few minutes, sometimes it's right in, right out. It's not that he/she can't get in, it's just fleeting. And annoying if you are in there chatting.

When asking for help with a problem, it's often useful to actually explain the symptoms you are experiencing.

I am using unsupported Windows Vista and I have no trouble. Unless I click on "control N" to open a new browser. It opens a new chat window and kicks me out of the old one.

Hey Squibbles,

Maybe it is your Window Pop-Up Blocker software.

I had to disabled my Pop-Up software from Yahoo because it was stopping me from entering the Chat Room.

I deleted my Yahoo software and then re-installed it with custom choices and chose not to take the Yahoo Tool Bar, the Yahoo Pop-Up Blocker and everything else that Yahoo was offering.

Then the problem was fixed.

And I know for me, it was Yahoo that was causing the problem because before I installed the Yahoo software (as is) I had no problems getting into the Chat Room.

However, I could not enter at all because Yahoo had me totally blocked out by their Pop-Up Blocker.

Good luck!!

You know what GGG? I had the same problem now that you mention it! I didn't relate it to yahoo... but I know once I uninstalled yahoo messenger, re-installed it and didn't accept all the junky ad ons, I could get into chat then too! But it happened a couple of months ago to me, so I never put the 2 together! Coincidence? I think not! :lildevil:

Bingo!!! :yup:

I know because I had no problems and then I installed Yahoo and did not take the time to do a custom download and it screwed up so many things on my computer. So many! :hopeless:

It took me a long time to undo everything that Yahoo did with that full download and get my computer back to running the way that I like it!

I learned my lesson the hard way!! :yup:

Wish I had known that sooner... at least with XP I can do a restore so I don't have to go through too much of a mess anymore. That is the only real feature I do like about it though!

I am brand new to using chat so this question may be obvious to most people.

I can get into the lounge and chat no problem. I waas just fiddling and set up a private chat room I was able to access it no problem.
thing is as soon as I stopped using it and went back into the lounge it disappeared in a few seconds.
Is it supposed to do that ? do you set up a new room from scratch each time you want a private chat? or am I missing something.

You all probably know about this already, but I wanted to mention this site. My boyfriend told me about it, and he told me to run the clean up every time I download or remove a program...it is great!!!
