MantaRayz 05-03-2004, 02:31 AM Well, Aloha from Sunny (& HOT) San Diego! It looks like y'all are having some pretty fine weather so far this year! Ya better watch out though ...... I'm already hearing talk about water restrictions from my mom in Albany! YIKES! (something they might need to think about here!) Tom 05-03-2004, 02:34 AM Well, Aloha from Sunny (& HOT) San Diego! It looks like y'all are having some pretty fine weather so far this year! Ya better watch out though ...... I'm already hearing talk about water restrictions from my mom in Albany! YIKES! (something they might need to think about here!) Water restrictions? MantaRayz 05-03-2004, 03:11 AM Water restrictions? Yep! Unlike other places (not mentioning locations like CA or AZ or NV) Oregon and the NorthWest is blessed with an abundance of Rain and snowfall, which in a "normal" year is stored naturally in the mountains as snowpack, and in resevoirs as lakes. Several years ago, we had pretty sever restrictions, allowing only "necessary" watering every other day, then 2 times per week, and in some places only once per week. Lawns died, trees loss some ability to defend against pests, and many grew weak and some died. Californ ...... well, lets not point fingers here ..... is doing OK with some conservation measures, but still has literally MILLIONS of AcreFeet lost each year due to surface evaporation from pools, ponds, etc. But very little talk of restrictions; they typically just fight for their "right" to the Colorado river water. hummmmm .... does anyone see a problem? I'm sitting in my office in Sunny (OK, Moonlit tonight) San Diego, where it was 85 degrees at the beach today! 100 degrees at the house! Right now at 1:08 am, it's still 82 in my office, and in the mid 70s outside. I believe we are in for a warm summer! I'd LOVE some water to jump in, but have to be content with driving to the club to swim.
