View Full Version : John Kerry is an idiot
applewormy 11-01-2006, 10:31 PM Looks like Kerry won't be getting any votes after what he said...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLuMWiQ6r2o
shows what he really thinks about our soldiers...
Sometimes I wonder if Kerry is secretly working for the RNC. :biglaugh:

Spider 11-02-2006, 12:28 AM In all fairness, you can tell by the way Kerry looks down at his notes and hesitated that he messed up the set-up of that joke and thus screwed up the punchline.
I believe him when he said it was intended to be a jab at George Bush - that it was supposed to be George Bush that got stuck in Iraq.
Mind you, Kerry is still a dork! And this sort of gaff could have diabilocal consequences if made on the world stage. Screwing up a joke about GW just give the Republicans more ammunition.
Imagine if, as president, he screwed up in similar fashion in a UN speech about N.Korea!
I hope this means Kerry's withdrawal from the Presidential race in 2008.
Thank goodness Kerry will NEVER be our President. Hopefully another Republican can bring it home in a couple of years.

Penelope 11-02-2006, 02:58 AM Yes I'll agree here, Kerry is an idiot and makes all the idiots come out to defend him. Acting like he respects the troops? Give me a break. He made a career out of soldier bashing during Vietnam. The guy is nuts :cookoo:

I think you are probably right, but he should have explained it and apologized immediately. Instead he becomes ridiculously defensive and blames the whole thing on some sort of Republican conspiracy. He finally apologized when members of his own party started turning on him, lol.
I think this guy is a weasel of the highest order, and always have. I don't even know one person who voted for him because they liked him. It was always either because they wanted anyone but Bush, or because they vote Democrat no matter what.
KH Rising 11-02-2006, 08:36 AM There's been no coverage of this yet in the UK. How did he manage to explain himself? I'm presuming he did mess up the punchline, but what possible excusable punchline could he have had?!
junto 11-02-2006, 10:49 AM Kerry claims his blunder was a botched joke on GW? I think it is just as, if not more dishonorable to disrespect and ridicule the President in a speach given to students. How low can a man go? Is there anything left sacred anymore???:bonk:

ParadiseWaits 11-02-2006, 10:52 AM Agreed, calling President Bush stupid is wrong. President Bush is not stupid. He's embarassingly incompetent. But he's not stupid.
Bush is an excellent President and Kerry, well happily, he will never be in the White House.
Our Nation is safe.

KahunaGrande 11-02-2006, 11:01 AM Kerry could have apologized immediately and this would have been over, but he was unable to apologize.
Add this to his 30 year history of lying about and demeaning American service men and women and he will not get a free pass on this. His 4 months and 3 self-reported purple hearts in Vietnam do not insulate him from criticism about indefensible positions or unbelievable statements or poor behavior. I spent 4 months in inside sales 14 years ago, even had a few paper cuts, but I don't wear that as a badge of courage and demand I not be questioned.
I believe it was, in fact, a botched joke, but I believe he was not able to apologize because he still sees everything through the filter of his own Vietnam experience and the lies he told about it and his fellow servicemen 3 decades ago - and he does see most folks in military as inferior and victims, not as intelligent and patriotic men and women.
I am glad the brahmin blue blood junior senator from Massachussets behaved as he always has and blamed others for his error - it will help the Republicans keep the House.
ParadiseWaits 11-02-2006, 11:07 AM Remember that guy Loop form the TR website? He was brilliant and his political commentary was always right on. Ridiculing the President, or Prime Minister should be a national sport. If Dubya, or Tony Blair didnt want everything that they say, do and act to be scrutionized, they should been dustmen.
What would be nice, is having a head of state who isnt a laughing stock around the world.
Whatever you guys think of him, I can assure you that he is ridiculded all day long in Europe. Mainly for his gaffes, and seeming ignorance on what else is happening in the world.
Likewise, Prince Phillip - Queen Elisabeth's husband - is ridiculed (and rightly so) for being an idiot.
I dont know what Kerry has done, but he looked a bit weird anyway, with that long face. Who would want a president who looked like a horse?

Yes, Loop is getting married. His future bride is undergoing a sanity evaluation. Her judgment is highly questionable.

I'm going to get sooooo confused. :D

ParadiseWaits 11-02-2006, 12:50 PM Thanks FS. Yeah, new tags can be confusing. Paradise Waits comes from a song lyric by Robert Hunter (lyricist for the Grateful Dead).
Okay, well, since you asked ;)
Paradise waits
on the crest of a wave
her angels in flame
She has no pain
Like a child, she is pure
She is not to blame
Poised for flight
Wings spread bright
Spring from night
into the sun
Don't stop to run
She can fly like a lie
She cannot be outdone

Chuck, I agree with your point but I think it is a different issue when you have a senator making disrespectful jokes about the president(his boss) in front of students. It is one thing to disagree on issues and policy, but another to attack the person especially in front of students. I haven't been alive long enough to witness many presidencies but I don't think that it used to be this childish and disrespectful.
I know that Blair is not the most popular guy in Britain, does he face a similar onsloaght of personal attacks on a daily basis from his colleagues? It would be interesting to see how it compares with us here in America.

Kerry said he meant that Bush was stuck in Iraq, to imply that Bush was lacking in education. Instead it came out that the troops who were stuck in Iraq lacked education, implying that they couldn't get other jobs so joined the military.
If the man cannot handle a simple joke, I'd hate to imagine how he'd handle the economy!
MantaRayz 11-02-2006, 02:07 PM I haven't been alive long enough to witness many presidencies but I don't think that it used to be this childish and disrespectful.
It's an increasingly generalized tone of disrespect for just about Everything and Everyone one that concerns me. The "F#*K You, I'm Right" attitude is overpowering in waaaaaay too many instances, and that just fuels more. Of course, inside the Powitical Halls, it's more "Genteely" addressed, but it's there none-the-less. Whats great about all that? It WILL be curtailed one day, but that will probably be because of some pretty drastic an intense stuff.

This is a period, once a week, in the British House of Commons, when the Prime Minister - currently Tony Blair - must answer questions directly on the floor of the House. It is a most gruelling time for a country's leader and no holds are barred.
It is childish, unruly and as verbally violent as you can imagine. The US President doesn't have anything like this to contend with.
You want disrespect for a country's leader - this is disrespect in spades!
A great institution and should never be removed. It keeps the buggars on their toes!
It makes them realize - lest they forget - that they are the servants of the people, not rulers!
SilverSurfer 11-02-2006, 02:38 PM Well first off, I laughed at the joke because it sounded like it was about Bush. I talked to a few vets who thought it was about the military and when we watched the clip again, it's pretty clear it's a dig at Bush.
However, since the Republicans have pretty well failed while controlling the Presidency, Judiciary, Senate and Congress, I can see why they want to avoid the issues and pretend it was a dig at soldiers.
All I can say is that video doesn't lie, it's a joke about Bush.
I worked in the Pentagon for several years and left when it became clear that Americans were being left to die in Iraq.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
I went through a lot of soul-searching before I decided to get out of there. It was a very tough time in my life. But to say the President hasn't left the soldiers in Iraq without the required amount of planning, supplies and strategery is ignorant. Ask the generals if there was enough thought put into Iraq. Ask the generals what they think the problem is. the generals know better than we do and better than the grunts.

Hurrah to that.
We had civil war before you guys were even fighting the indians, and all because someone (the king, the parliment, then Cromwell) thought that they were bigger, and better than the people.
That seems to be the point, and Manta made a good example of it.
Saying that "he's the president, he must be right", or "he must be doing this for our good" is a bit naive I'd say.
Blair gets slaughtered from all sides, but then again, he does stupid things.
His wife has a life coach, who is the girlfriend of a con man, and they wonder why national secrets appera in the red tops?
Prescott, the deputy PM is a twatter of the highest order. He is known as "two jags" because of his liking for being driven everywhere, and his extra martital affairs have caused the government all sorts of trouble.
Thats when he's not punching protesters.

It's time to get out a lawn chair, grab a six pack and watch the show. Even on a local level. The incumbent county sheriff's secret girlfriend's husband just spilled the beans about said sheriff's long term affair with his wife. I guess all those expensive TV ads showing him doting on the elderly aren't worth a damn anymore. :bonk:
Yeah, as a Dem, Kerry isn't my fave choice in all the world. But he's way less incompetent than who sits in the chair now. Stranger things have happened...

Hey love that Tony Blair video! Is that how stuff is conducted in your government? That is really intelligent AND entertaining! Our CSpan is as dull and lifeless as our government officials.
