Here's what happened...

The site was having problems during the week, which the host wasn't fixing. Then Friday night I came on and the site was completely dead. I emailed back and forth with the host and it was supposed to be being fixed. By late Saturday morning, I said to hell with it and found a new host. I had the site all moved and working by Saturday afternoon, but had to wait for the domain to propagate to the new server.

Well I hope we didn't lose anybody...

Sounds like your original host was not too concerned with getting your (or their) problems fixed.

I think he was concerned, but having difficulties doing it. I don't know what was causing the original problems, but when the site was completely dead, he said it happened after he had upgraded his software, and was waiting for the software company's support to address the problem. But I think a good host would have a backup or a way of reverting things should that problem come up.

Generally, his company has a good reputation, but I did find out that a few others might have had similar problems with them in the past. And he offered to upgrade my account free of charge, but the experience of the past week destroyed my confidence in them.

The funny thing was that by the time I had the site moved and ready to go live, wouldn't you know it, the other one was working. :D

Tom, i was typing some info in, and for the first time using this site, things started to freeze up on me. I re-booted my computer a couple of times and it just got worse, so i turned off. Now i know it probably wasn't my computer!
