I don't there's too many people that are satisfied with their incomes. It's a human charactaristic to always want more. I bet that even Bill Gates wants more than he has.

I think that there's a level of income that I would be content with, but it is hard to say before I reach it.

even though i think thats funny what you said about bill gates but think it true also because the guy is cheap when it comes to style and other things.

Yeah, I've heard that he's pretty cheap too. And he needs a makeover too. It'd be a great challenge for Fab Five from Queer Eyes for a Straight Guy.

Cheap? 50M$ house? ;)

Actually, my guess is that most of the board members are Americans. The American Dream is very different from the desire for wealth that other countries have, as highlighted by the Bill Gates example.

In fact, most developed cultures seek 'just enough, and then a little more'. Enough to pay the bills, go on vacations, buy nice foods and catch a movie.

Most cultures aren't looking for the extravagance that Americans generally look for.

Might be worth some investigating as to how a whole country is generally taken in by the desire for extreme wealth. I'm not sure it's a simple explanation.

Yeah and he did donate some hundred millions or was it a billion to some charity. But what I've heard is that he wasn't going to donate any money at all, instead he was going will a large part of his estate to charities. But I guess people pressured him to donate money before he passed away. Don't take me wrong, though, I believe that Mr. Gates is probably a pretty cool guy.

The Gates foundations donate over 3B$/year to charities, and have been doing so for a while. He may live frivolously, but he has always donated to charity (since college). He's very philanthropic (is that a word?).

Yep, that's the word. Excuse my ignorance, I must have been misinformed by someday somewhere down the road. $3B is pretty generous, if you ask me.

Yeah, they have their own website: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/default.htm

You can see what they've given to. It's really very impressive.
