Yesterday I benched 245 for the first time! :thumb: Tom 05-28-2004, 12:30 AM Congratulations Goalguy! I don't think I've done any weightlifting since I was a teenager. I've been looking at machines lately though to replicate it at home, like Bowflex. In the mean time, maybe I better start doing pushups or something. :) MantaRayz 05-28-2004, 12:44 AM 245! :thumb: Good Job! OK, with that celebration outta the way, I'll ask you some really lame questions about that 245. Is that among your goals? Whats your next target? What are your overall goals for Weight training? Was that a single vein-poppin' push, or the weight for the set? Did you do it safely? ie: Spotters. NEVER do your absolute Maxumim without buddies there. You may be a STUD, but a quick 245 on the chest would do some pretty good damage you do not want! I no longer do weights, I now do resistance training, cardio and swimming. Weights are not real high on my interest meter now. Althought 30 years ago, in my more gargantuan dayz, I was doing around 425 bench, and other comparable weights for training. Thats 'cause I was a big kid, and started working in seed mills when I was 13. Train SMART, Eat SMART, and you'll keep progressing! Good Luck! MantaRayz 05-28-2004, 01:04 AM Congratulations Goalguy! E-Bay? :yup: I just about bought one last year for $450, in like-new condition. If I owned a Gym, I'd consider putting several on the floor. Ya mean yer NOT yet doing the Davalos Training? COME ON! BUCK UP THERE! Tom 05-28-2004, 01:11 AM Never heard of a Crossbow machine. I'm looking it up now. I think the Total Gym looks pretty cool. Tom 05-28-2004, 02:26 AM Yes, but there is an exercise machine...Looks pretty cool! http://www.thecrossbow.com/crossbow/index.html David 05-28-2004, 02:37 AM Yes, but there is an exercise machine...Looks pretty cool! http://www.thecrossbow.com/crossbow/index.htmlWhere did they get that picture of me? Man-o-man, guess thats what I get for posten' too much on the web. :D Goalguy 05-28-2004, 05:03 AM 245! :thumb: Good Job! My goal is a 300 bench press, overall goals just to get strong and masive. No that was one lift not a set. I got several workout partners and always use a spotter unless its light weights. Thanks for the congrats guys! WOW 425 is awesome!!! Scarlet Warrior 05-29-2004, 01:04 AM Any of you guys into bodybuilding or weightlifting? Yesterday I benched 245 for the first time! :thumb: Well done Goalguy.... I'm assuming its 245 pounds? I am doing weights at home on my makeshift benchpress at present. I don't have enough weight to effectively benchpress at the moment, so I am feeling a little flat.... my total weight is only 50 kilos. It's OK for standing curls, squats and shoulder raises though. Luckily my father is a fitter/machinist, so he is going to make me up some more weights. Goalguy 05-29-2004, 06:05 AM Sorry yes I meant 245 lbs. Antiphrasis 06-12-2004, 07:56 PM I just bought a 20 pound barbell from Walmart. It's just a big chunk of metal but still cost more than 10 bucks. But that's besides the point. It's great for working my arms at home, and I can do that while watching TV. =) Ironmind 06-22-2004, 09:06 AM i just joined this site today and I am a hard core bodybuilder. Been at it for over 30 years and I still compete on a national level. If I can be of any help on here, Id be happy to help out...about the bowflex? No comment..LOL PS- the fountain of youth is in increased muscle mass. lifting weights is the greatest anti-aging activity on earth. focus on free weights, not machines Cemiess 07-16-2004, 04:13 PM I've done weight lifting on and off for a few years, but I keep stopping. I know I should have more self control, but my main "excuse" and the thing that stops me doing it more often than not is because I feel too weak, from not eating enough. I come home at 6 and I'm starving, then by the time my dinner has gone down I'm either too tired to start lifting or I've forgotten about it. What's a good thing to eat in the afternoon to give me the energy I need but not fill me up too much? I find I burn carbs off by sitting on my ass, so do you think a few pork chunks or something is a good idea? I know I'm just making excuses but surely I'm not the only one with this problem - what does everyone else do foodwise in the run up to weightlifting? |
