Politics, that seems like a good place to put this.

Just because people aren't replying in droves doesn't mean they arent considering the questions privately.

They are very private questions and it would be bad business practice to let out your one and only best original idea to all on the internet. No offense, Scooter.

Often what seems like idle chatter masks a lot of behind-the-scenes action in places like this.

You guys are having a regular judgement fest on the quality and content of this forum. I imagine we will only be seeing only 'on-topic' posts from you all from now on, then? Should be interesting. :D

No offense taken,
Personally I think there has been an over reaction to a simple and probably accurate observation I made. I meant nothing bad by it, only an observation. No More. Lots of energy goes into threads that seem to only serve purpose of gossip. Not a bad thing, just an observation.

Thats my judgment fest. ;)
You already stated that you weren't going to put your #1 idea out there. I did not make comment to that. Thats your wish and I have ideas that won't be posted as well. I know where your coming from. I am OK with that. Like i really matters anyway. :biglaugh:

If for some reason you or Spider feel I am antagonizing or judging Content of this forum. Let me know. I can look at the issue. I am open to that.

I wondered about this - it didn't seem to hold water to me, and although Scooter said it others seemed to agree.

Well, as an example, the most current of PW's threads that has gone on longer than this one is "Art Teachers Suck Balls!" and I thought I'd see if the supposition that people here are wasting time more than using is 'wisely' was true --

In 19 hours has received 27 replies, 215 views

IOW, Tim has 250% more replies in the first 19 hours than Zaul did.

So I do not agree that the replies here are 'extremely few.' What do they keep telling us, those 'wise' ones, that we get what we focus on?! For me, this little exercise is more proof that the gurus are not as right as they and their followers believe. One does not get more of what one focusses on, one 'appears' to get more of what one focusses on, and that appearance may 'seem' to be right, but may actually 'be' wrong!

I offer you that little revelation as my original thought!!

Just bringing over Spiders Post.

Seems like I hit a nerve. Personally Spider, I would never would have assumed you to get riled about my statement. It surprised me but its good its out there. Seems my Values thread was the starting point of your turn towards me or something. As if I had fallen off a pedestal or something. Not sure what I did but none the less, air it out please.

Relax, Scooter. If Spider posts lately, it's because he's turned on someone. ;) So you are in good company.

But what you are talking about is basically a risk of posting ANYTHING. People will agree and people will disagree. Who cares?

I personally enjoy both kinds of posts equally.

Now. To another matter. The media has morphed into some kind of propaganda generator. They say there is terror...we suddenly feel terrorized even though terror has touched a fair few of us in reality. They say the sky is falling....and reasonable, logical, intelligent Americans suddenly panic.

Basically, they have learned to manipulate the phenomenon whereby if you print it, it must be TRUE and, worse, it must be an enormous problem.

We have a "swearing" thread that has managed to focus everyone on some trivial use of expletives as if it's a monumental issue.

So what was your goal in creating a thread called "Forum Politics?"

Just curious...

No nerve hit. No riling. I just noticed an observation from you that didn't jive with my impression of the forum, and when others jumped on to agree with your observation, I felt inclined to check it out.

What I found supported my opposite impression, so I noted it. That's all. I hoped you - and the others - would see that this forum is performing the way you stated you would like it to perform. ie. more energy spent on growth than frivolity.

Couldn't think of a better name at the time. Make a suggestion. Its a forum, there seemed to be politics, this seemed like a great place to put that, in politics.

Number one Reason I wasn't fair to continue the hijacking of Wanderers thread, thats why I brought over the commentary.

Your reading too much into it. As if I was trying to start something.
If you have a name that pleases you make a suggestion.

people will agree, and people will disagree, I agree ;) This time!

All is well in Forum politics, as far as I am concerned. I'm not mad at anyone, not ticked off at anyone, not ticked off by anyone, perfectly happy with all y'all's postings and enjoying the exchanges.

If you felt there was a problem, Scoot, I'm sorry for giving cause to that feeling.

Alls well on the Western Front!

Peaceful resolution ;)
I like that. Guess thats why I am an ENFP :biglaugh:
Peace is important to me at the core level

I do find it interesting that the term Politics gets interpreted with negative connotations so often. There are Forum Politics in play and denial of that is plain silly. There are politics in everything we do daily. We may call it something else but a rose by any other name...

I can understand Jennie's Thinking about the news today. I seldom watch news anymore because its not news its entertainment at a very non-prosperous level. There are channels I do watch such as Discovery, TLC and TWC but only to get what I need. There IS, I agree Jennie, too much focus on what we do not want. Too much focus on Terrorism, War, Drugs, Violence. These things have all been around for ages and applying tons of energy into the awareness of them only seems to make them worse.

I heard once that Mother Theressa was invited to an anti-war rally. She declined and said that when they help a rally for peace that she would come. GO MT! wherever your at! :thumb:
