Hi - I'm new here... but so far, loving it! You've got a terrific forum here ;)
My name is Lynn and I'm a single mother to two cool kids (ages 7 & 12) - we currently live in Tennessee (US) and I also take care of my 92yo Grandmother full-time. I have been working from home and online since 1996. I did have a shop and then an office in the city for a few years, but also kept a home office then, too.
I've done a little bit of everything - custom builds for network gamers, network gaming (had a full set-up for group competitions), installed networks, computer training classes, Quickbooks Professional Advisor (I mainly set up computerized accounting for construction companies back then), web design, eBusiness consultation, I've sold cars & boats on eBay, trained eBay Powersellers, internet marketing, product development - yada yada yada LOL
I'm more homebound now than I used to be, so I work strictly online - which is really nice, honestly. I homeschooled the kids for a couple years (while my son was ill), but now that they are back in school I have Grandmother to tend to. The flexibility is nice, and my career is still strong and very exciting... so I have the best of both worlds!
My last "real job" was as a Unix Sys Admin (back in '96 before I quit to start the shop). I dont miss it - not for a second :p
I'm in the process of updating all of my sites, creating a few products... and writing a book (a real book, not an 'ebook' - will be published as fiction). I have a second, informational book in the works also... so my ultimate goal is to retire as a published author and public speaker.
But, in the meantime, I'm raising my kids and loving my work and basically just enjoying life and moving forward at full-speed. I'm currently training my son, who will be working alongside me as an apprentice until he is of age to hop on the payroll ;)
