I am always interested to hear how other people define success, so I'd like to see what the different opinions of the people on this board are.

My idea of success is having a job that I love doing, enough money to be comfortable and not have to worry about bills etc, and having great relationships with family and friends. Ultimately, it would be living a stress free life.

Not all of those things mentioned above are happening at the moment, but thats what I am working towards.

What about you?

For some reason I equate success with happiness and contentedness. I'm aware that they're not really the same thing, but one thing leads to another in a way.

Yeah, I agree. To me I'm succesful if I have enough money to get by, and then a little bit more, if I'm happy, spending time with my family, have great friends, etc.

To me, success is a term used to describe the outcome of a venture undertaken and carries within it an implication of achievement, whether that be on a personal or business level. It is the realization of your goals. Happiness is simply a by product of that.

Thanks for the responses. :)

I guess there is alot of different perceptions out there and it also depends on what motivates people. Obviously some are motivated by money, status, health, peace of mind or any combination of things.

So I guess there's no right or wrong, just whatever makes you happy. ;)

For me, it is making a positive difference in someone's life. To me, that is success.

Yes, I agree it is rewarding when I can help someone out in some way or other, even if it is a small contribution to their life.
