After looking at offerings from companies like www.hq.com and www.regus.com, it sounds tempting, but I'd like to know if anyone here is using them.

Basically for a monthly fee you get a prestigious business address, someone to answer your calls, and the ability to get officespace by the hour.

Does anyone here use it or have any opinions on if its worth it? One of the gotchas with HQ is that you don't always get the same office space - wouldn't that be embarrassing?

Still, does having someone answer your calls and receive your mail really help with landing new clients?

Even though i dont know to much about it i really dont think its worth it because of the fatc that this can be done by yourself without putting alot of time into it.

The biggest thing would be whether or not you have the time or ability to do some of the things yourself. If you are constantly with clients and missing sales calls, it may be worth it to have someone answering the phone, for example.

It really depends on your situation. I know that your office address does make a difference. When I had a Main Street address, people were much more impressed than my non-Main Street address.

Also, I noticed when I got an 800 number suddenly I got more sales calls and more clients. The customers assumed that since I must have an 800 number, I must be a large respected company. Little did they know that it was just me at the time.

So appearance does make a difference in certain situations. Now, whether or not these companies can help you with that in a meaningful way is a different story.
