View Full Version : What This Forum Really Needs - Two Things

Hey everyone,

I'm writing these down before introducing myself - otherwise I might forget these two points, and they really can help.

1) Have a better design.

When something catches my eye, is pleasant to read then I'm willing to read the interesting content here at the forums. With that box displaying the latest posts you already encourage posting. But the standard vBulletin design isn't that attractive...

2) Tie articles/interviews/content in with forum discussions.

I've seen there are a lot of discussions going on, however it could grow much faster when there's lots of fresh info posted on the main site. Actively promote the discussion of new articles, interviews, member of the month and such.

Just my 2c, hope they help.

-Dave

Thanks Dave, its always nice when a stranger turns up, and wants to change things round.

Would you like to come round to my house later, and tell me where the furniture should be, and which colour to spray the cat?

Interesting ideas. Welcome to the Vibe, BTW. I don't know a whole lot about the history of the site, but my best recollection is that it started as a forum first and then the main page was added fairly recently when the original owner sold the site to the current Grand Poobah, a very nice chap called Gavin (Hey Gavin! )

BTW, Pay no attention to Chuck D. He has the world's most wicked sense of humor, and we all love him, even though he has a purple polka-dotted cat.

Do you understand what colour is? Now I am embarassed because I am supposed to spell it colour as well...just used to dealing with Americans who only see in black and white when it comes to spelling....ooohhh...did I say that?

Thats why I was sooooooo disappointed in you Sean. I decided not to give away my personal power though, to be strong, and bet the better person instead.

There used to be a "Speak and Spell" advert over here with the owrd colour spelt wrong on it, classic......

Well, if we were going to write phonetically, it would still be different on opposite sides of the Atlantic -- kulerr in America and Kula in England.

I talked to the forum just yesterday and what it really wants is for people to love it for who it is on the inside

Hey Dave,

I am sure Gavin will be interested in your ideas. As Joanne mentioned this site was purchased recently from the original owner who started these forums, Tom. Tom sold it to Gavin. This isn't the only website or business that Gavin owns - but he is doing pretty good with it so far, adding lots to the front page. Gavin is good in that he usually asks us for our opinion and input when he is making changes. I'm sure your opinions will mean a great deal to him. Don't mind the regular posters with wacky senses of humor. Some of us rarely go to the front page and come straight to the forum. This is a close knit community that helps one another with our goals. There are always the bubblegum / silly threads about too, but mainly those help build rapport and let off steam. The goal oriented threads are chock full of good advice and lots of encouragement! :thumb:

It's always nice to see another Coach join the ranks here!
