I would really like to trade online, but there is a slight amount of trepidation with that activity. I wonder if anyone in the forum has traded stock online, and where they have found low fees, etc.

Are you talking about day-trading or just buying/selling stock? If it's the latter, Scott Trade (http://www.scottrade.com/) is very reputable and only $7 a trade.

Well daytrading is a different story. You have to do a lot research and should definitely do paper trading before you do any real trading. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-12,GGLD:en&q=paper+trading

Thanks, I know you are right. I am not much of a risk taker, so I am going to study before I act. :thumb:

I have a feeling it might be too much for me. :hmm:

I think I just better stick to the nickel slots at the casino. ;)

Yeah I don't think it's something you want to be involved in haphazardly, unless of course, you have money to burn. :)

I use Scott trade and they are top notch. As for day trading I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I know some people make a lot of money doing it, but most people don't.

I need to do more research on it, as I really do not understand the difference between the two. :hmm:

I know now that it is not for me, but I would like to know how it operates.

Day trading is where you are making several trades during a single day, based on small price fluctuations. Generally speaking, day-traders don't hold a stock overnight.

Regular online trading is just normal buying and selling stocks, but you are doing it through a website as opposed to the old-fashioned way of calling your broker. It is just normal mid to long term investing in the stock market, but done online.

Hope that clears things up

:) It did. The traditional trading is what I was interested in.

Yeah, then I don't think you can go wrong with Scott...I've heard nothing but good things about them. And I don't think you can beat seven bucks a trade.

Some of my friends have been investing in gold, and I have heard numerous radio ads about the advantages of that type of investment. I am a conservative investor, and I need to start adding more high interest holdings to my portfolio. I hate to pay someone to tell me what to buy, so I have been doing it all myself.
