I have a question on how to switch the wording of a link to your own words. I notice everyone does it and I can't

Put the URL inside square brackets with a URL= ........ as follows--

[ u r l = http://www.evolutioniscoming.com/EVO159730FP ] A New Business for YOU! [/u r l ]

(Remove the spaces, of course.)

(In case anyone is worrying about me advertising - that is an ad for Gavin's business.)

I'm not sure what you're doing so I'll just explain what I do.

Open the Reply/Quote box...whatever you call it where you type in response to a thread.
Then in another window open the web site that you want to link to. Go into the address bar where the web address is (]http://www.....etc.) and copy the address.
Then come back here and type whatever word or words you want used to take a person to the link. I'm choosing these words. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22049988/)
After you've typed those words, select them with your cursor, then click on the Insert Link icon, and past the web address in the space in the box that pops up. Press OK

That's it!! The words will then show up as being "inside" a buncha URL jibberish in your typing box and if you preview your reply you should see them in blue and underlined. Let me know if this helped or not. If not, re-read and try again!

What Spider said...or what Awake said! :D Okay, so I messed with your quote! :)

Both ways work, it's just that the way I do it takes the "worry" out of getting all the letters & brackets in just right and saves some keystrokes. The icons are a lazy-man's (or lazy-woman's) way of doing it. Just like the icons for quoting, doing lists, bolding, etc.

Thanks for the link to vCode, Scooter - I was wondering what the language was that we use here! The sample tables from that link are well laid-out and explained.

Not to worry Awake. I do it exactly as you do it. It's the simpler way (to me anyway). And I like simplicity. Especially since my computer skills stretch as far as pointing and clicking the mouse. Which amuses every minute since I'm in the process of building a website. :rulz:
