Study suggests Advil, Motrin pose heart risk

The Associated Press

ANAHEIM, Calif. — With prescription drugs Vioxx and Bextra off the market, a study has raised disturbing questions about the heart safety of over-the-counter pain relievers such as Advil and Motrin.

Smokers in Norway who took such drugs for at least six months had twice the risk of dying of a heart attack, stroke or other heart-related problem.

I think the only safe ones left are Tylenol and Aspirin.

Yikes, this is scary. Didn't they find something awhile back about Alleve, too? Does Tylenol even work? I don't think it does for me...Well I guess that leaves aspirin, lol.

Aleve is one of them.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Smokers who regularly took certain popular pain killers cut their risk of developing oral cancer but increased their chances of dying from heart-related problems, according to a study that raises fresh questions about the long-term use of Advil, Motrin and Aleve.

I am hoping plain aspirin with help with back pain and joint ache. I have always used Advil, and it worked great.
