I have avoided putting loose fruits and veggies in the convenient plastic bags at the store. I heard you should never put food products in plastic bags, and I can see why:

You will also notice your produce will last a lot longer if you do not store it in plastic bags.

Its funny that you posted this. I just bought plastic containers at the "99 cents store". I couldn't make up my mind-the cute, colorful containers that I wanted were not marked "microwave safe". I could just picture them melting into my pasta leftovers :yikes: I ended up buying the ugly containers that were marked "microwave safe". :thumb:

I also found this on this on that site:
If a microwaved food picks up flavor from its container, "throw it out," he says. "If you get things tasting like plastic, you're getting breakdown products." A dash of forethought and label reading will make microwaving safer. At a minimum, consumers should: Cook only in containers labeled for use in the microwave. If you like plastic cookware, look for polyethylene, which doesn't contain plasticizers. Leave a gap between food and plastic wrap. Consider waxed paper safe. Choose the plain white paper towels, not colored or recycled fibers containing dyes or chemicals. Don't use recycled margarine tubs, dairy food containers or deli wraps in the microwave. They aren't heat-tested, and can allow chemicals to leach into food.

Good Find!

That is coincidental :)

I don't use a microwave either; I am a little extreme....I think they call it a "health nut."

Glass or Pyrex storage and microwave use is probably the best, but don't put those plastic tops on while microwaving. I don't even like buying water in that soft, milk-container plastic since I can taste the plastic in the water!

Microwaves actually use radio wave transmitters to get the food molecules excited... er... hot. At least that's what I heard on that show, Myth Busters.

I mentioned Hulda Clarke in another post a while back, and she claims it is the alcohol you are tasting when drinking bottled water. I can taste both the plastic and alcohol. The alcohol is used to sterilize the bottles.

In 1993 Dr Hulda Clark, Ph.D. wrote an amazing book "The Cure for all Cancers". In 1995 she wrote an equally amazing book, "The Cure for all Diseases". In both books Hulda Clark claims that all diseases are caused by a parasite plus a pollutant. She also claims that it is relatively easily to kill the parasite and remove the pollutant. Her books have case histories which evidence to the truth of her findings.

Sounds very interesting. Any links?

If you a do a search on her or the zapper, you will find a lot of interesting sites and info. Here is one on bottled water:

My brother did some research on her and found this:

I guess that's one of the problems with the Internet - too much information that sounds too good to be true!

Well, I agree, she sounds like a quack, but some of her ideas make sense to me.

When she talks about the alcohol used in sterilizing plastic bottles, that rang true as I have always been able to taste it when I drink bottled water.

I agree with you, CJS. There's no need to discount everything about a person just because they are found out to be in error about some things.

That's one of the great things about discussion forums; ideas can be presented and debated until the reality is discovered, or at least everyone here can come to their own conclusions from thinking things through.

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to add, that I wouldn't necessarily trust that site. There is a lot of not so positive information on Steven Barrett and quackwatch floating around.
