I don't get it when they talk about visualizing success. Maybe I'm dumb. :(

It can be difficult concept to grasp, so I doubt you are dumb. The reason it's hard to understand is because it is probably much simpler than you think. It's really just a matter of using your imgination. Imagine what it looks and feels like to have the life you want.

A baseball player may see himself up at bat before he actually does it. He imagines or visualizes the pitch coming and himself swinging and making perfect contact. He sees the ball going out over the wall. He hears the crowd roar as he rounds the bases. He imagines the rush he feels when his teammates are waiting at the plate to congratulate him.

So how you apply it is by imagining or visualizing what it looks and feels like to achieve whatever it is you want.

We do this all the time anyway, whether we are conscious of it or not. Often we do it a negative way though, thus achieving the results we don't want. The trick is to notice when we are visualizing what we don't want and to try and curb it, and to develop the habit of visualizing what we do want, more and more often.

Thanks Tom, that was a very good explanation. I Get it now.

By the way I like the new logo. :)

Thanks! I didn't make it though. I like it, but I think it needs touching up. It was designed to go with a lighter background, and the "Vibe" part didn't have that glare affect. I'm gonna see if I can get him to fix that for me. Also, I think it could stand to be a little bigger.

Very true, and Its very difficult to stop the automatic negative visualizations. Most books and articles I have read say its best to practise visualization in formal sessions for it to be most effective.

Very good explanation Tom, I agree with you fully. Visualizing success isn't so easy because many people naturally think of the negative thing that might happen. Your mind picks up small signals depending on your way of thinking, and it really can affect how you are. Tom's baseball player example was an excellent, practical example. Baseball players are taught to picture themselves getting a hit as they step into the batter's box each time.

See, now, that's not visualizing it! Ignore the reality of where you're at. Stop, calm yourself down and imagine yourself in your dream house. A terrace out back with a jacuzzi, 3 acre back lawn with a tennis court, manicured lawn...

Ignore how long it 'could' take to get there. Soak it in. Enjoy it. You'll be surprised by not just how calming it is, but how realistic it becomes very quickly.

You'll also be surprised by how much more content you are with your current lifestyle. Not because you've fooled yourself, but because you've taken your eyes off your problems for a minute.

Sometimes a minute is all it takes :)

I used to have the same problem. I just couldn't seem to get myself to visualize myself with what I wanted. But I think that part of it was that on some level in my mind, it wasn't possible for me to have it, so therefore I couldn't see myself actually having what I want.

Over time I have started to see that more is possible in life that I thought and I now can actualy visualize the future I want to create quite vividly.

I tend to do this every night and in fact it relaxes me and I tend to sleep better, I just visualise myself at the top of a huge office block with my me at sitting at my desk in my high backed leather chair with my hands clasped behind my head, swinging backwards and forwards in my chair without a care in the world.

Knowing that everything around me I own. :D

I don't get it when they talk about visualizing success. Maybe I'm dumb. :(

Think about what you do when you daydream, but you direct what is going on. Controlled imagination.

What can help here is to get pictures out of magazines that picture what you want, and then think on this. Think what it would be like to be involved with what you have in mind.

For example, imagine you wanted to own a Corvette. Well, get a magazine picture of a Corvette and stick it up on the wall. Then think what it would be like to drive it. You could also go to a car dealership and ask to take the car for the testdrive. Anchor these memories in. Then, when you daydream, you will think about these.

A version I do is I have photocopied pictures of bookcovers around the house of books I am trying to do. I have photocopies of the Dr. Phil weight book around the house and one in the car. I also have a Dave Ramsey Total Financial Makeover book cover photocopy up in my bedroom.

There are books on this subject. I do suggest you DON'T do as Napoleon Hill suggested by imagining famous leaders and letting them develop a life of their own in your head. That strikes me as too weird, and would be seen is questionable from a Biblical perspective (this bit of advice is for those in particular on here who may be a bit squeemish about doing visualization on Biblical grounds).

I just wanted to update that I have been practicing visualizing what I want for a while now. I really have not noticed anything happening from it but i do think maybe it is helping me become more aware of when I am negative thinking.

Sometimes it takes a while for things to happen. Or sometimes they are starting to happen and we don't really notice. The key is to not give up on the exercise to soon I think.

It is a muscle that needs to be built up. In the beginning, you will not be strong enough to manifest it, but as you practice more, and work on strengthing other areas of your life (your integrity, being your word, etc.), you will have more power in making what you visualize a reality.

I know a friend of mine, who is highly trained and developed, that manafested herself a $60,000 check by visualizing it happened. She visualized herself going out her front door, how the day looked, the birds in the trees, and creak of the mailbox as she opened it and her pulling out a check for $60,000 with her name in it, and how she felt when she received it. And the almost scary thing is that not only did it happen, it happened exactly the way she has imagined it. Exactly down to the bird in the yard, the creak of the mailbox, the weather, etc.!

So, visualization for a well trained person is a powerful thing.

Now, here is a warning about visualizations. You MUST be specific in them. She visualized the check coming in her name, but she didn't visualize it being deposited in her bank, or it being her money or her spending it and enjoying it. As it turned out, the check was a mistake. One of her clients selected the wrong name in the computer, thinking it was a person with a similar name, and a check got cut to her instead of the other person. Naturally, she had to give the check back.

So, visualizations do work, and you have to be specific in them. Also, you have to exercise that muscle of visualization and being your word to be effective.

Here is my suggestion/opinion (only):

1. Some of us is better in visualizing.
2. Some are good in 'physical movement'.
3. Some are better in listening.
4. so on....
5. Conclusion, we are not made the same. (otherwise everybody can become a president.....??).
6. Strive for what we are good/better for.
7. I hope this might help, if there is difficulty in visualizing (remember it is only the 1st steps - what about doing?)
Draw the picture that you want to visualize on a piece of paper, and look at it until you can 'subconciously' remember it. (if that's all what you want).

"Visualize" is somewhat of an unfortunate word, because some many people "can't" that they tend to skip the rest of the exercise.

To Visualize is more about attaching all the elements (the Bird, the creak, the weather, the feeling) to the experience you want to manifest. And like Steve said .... Be SPECIFIC! The more you can embellish the exercise, the more you can be precise, the greater will become your visualization.

I'm extremely impressed with all of your views on visualization.

Visualization is very effective. It has been the start to any, and every material thing on this planet! Before anything was created, it had to first be thought of in someones head, and then manifested with precise ACTION.

For many years , (mainly eastern hemisphere countries,) have practiced thoughts and visualization to heal deadly diseases.

Ever notice how people that "think" sick, are sick all the time. On the other hand if you think healthy you will be healthy.

In other words, THOUGHTS ARE POWERFUL!

If you've tried to visualize what you want and it hasn't materialized, it was probably one or both of two reasons: 1) You either haven't been using enough imagination in your visulaizations, or, 2) You didn't take the right action steps.

When you know exactly what you want....
-Visualize it vividly!
-Find out what it takes to get it.
-Take the proper action steps to get it.

It really is that simple.

If want to read a good book about thoughts, visualization, and how to relate them to everyday life, I would suggest "The Power of The Subconcious Mind" by Dr. Joseph Murpy. Excellent reading!

I don't get it when they talk about visualizing success. Maybe I'm dumb. :(

"What you see on the screen of your mind - is what you will manifest. So, put on your mental screen what you want to manifest.
