Wow!! Still on a high from seeing Joel Osteen last night! Amazing stuff.... I walked out of there feeling empowered, having a new attitude, and feeling like a totally changed person. His event was better than I ever expected and he was so right when he said "Noone will leave here tonight the same!" Just being in Joel's presence is so incredibly powerful. You are not only affected by his words, but his whole presence. He's a passionate, driven, caring, emotional, spiritual, funny, and loving human being! I am so incredibly grateful for him and that I actually got to see him in person- and so close too! I was not many rows back from the stage and I swear sometimes I just know he was looking right at me when he was speaking!! :p And being my first event, it was an amazing feeling being surrounded by so many uplifting and positive people. I sooooo want to be in that kind of environment again! I soooo want to move to Houston just to hear Joel speak and be in his presence every Sunday! Packing my bags!! :D I have listened to many of his podcasts, watched him on tv, have most of his dvds, read his books, but there is just nothing as powerful as seeing and listening to him in real life!!! :thumb:

He made me cry a few times throughout the night, especially when he talked about how important it is to let go of the past (the hurts, pains, negative influences in our upbringings ect...) or it's going to poison your future. Wow is that ever true! His wife Victoria talked about how important it is to have respect in your home- respect your spouse, kids, family....His son plays guitar in his ministry band (which by the way was AMAZING! I almost thought Jennifer Hudson was up there singing for a minute!) :rulz: and his daughter sings. She has a great voice and is so adorable! He has a beautiful family....:) It's inspiring at the very least. Watching the 4 of them on stage made me imagine what that would feel like growing up- what would it feel like to grow up in such a positive and loving home? Wow.... it put a huge smile on my face. And I was so blown away that he had already done 2 sermons that day in Texas and then jumped on a plane w/his family to Portland for his event in the evening. He looked a little tired, (I would be!!) but he pressed on! He's amazing....

I don't know how many of you have gone to Joel's event or stopped by his church in Houston, (I believe Batman has gone to an event) but I just wanted to share my experience. Would love to hear about yours. And if you haven't gone to an event, it's something you may want to do in your life! ;)

Looking forward to the next time Joel comes to Portland!!!!

I have not only gone to one of his events... We work them now also.

Joel is all the things you said but to be fair to him and you...

That powerful presence you felt wasn't Joel Osteen - Its called the Holy Spirit. :thumb: and the great thing is, when that Spirit dwells in YOU, you get to feel that way all the time

I definitely walked out of there wanting to be more of a contributor in the world. And it felt good giving him a nice donation. :thumb:

I think I'm driving my co-workers crazy today. It's Joel this, Joel that. :D I can't help it, I'm so empowered!!! :rulz:

Infact, walking into work this morning I started thinking some negative thoughts and went "wait a minute! No! Not everything goes my way all the time, I'm going to appreciate the day, embrace it exactly how it is, and everything it brings me." Or something like that.... :p

Interesting and sad timing....I forgot to mention that my husband's grandmother passed away about 3 hours before we were due to be at Joel's event. :( (it was expected any day...she had cancer) I told my husband it would be okay if he didn't feel up to going, but he knew it would make him feel better. I'm glad he went, it really did help him.

Today I got a call at work that my grandmother had a heart attack! It was mild and we believe she will be fine. They are deciding what to do tomorrow as far as her blockage is concerned. She's a tough woman, I have no doubt she'll be fine. Still interesting timing I think....:o

Joel came along right when he needed to and delivered a strong message for which I am grateful. :)

We worked one of the “resource” tables where they sell books and CD’s.

If we caught anyone stealing from the table our instructions were... “Let them take it, if they needed it and couldn’t pay for it, just pray that God will get them to use it and it blesses” them”

... I thought that was pretty cool

Why does that not surprise me? :p

If I don't get to shake his hand one day, that will be so messed up!!!! ;)

Have you gotten to talk to him Batman or shake his hand?

It is good to know that there are preachers who actually practice what they preach!

As all of you well know, I am not a member of the "god squad", and I often find the USA tv evangalism distasteful.

I've seen this chap quite a few times though, and he always comes across as being honest, and intelligent.
