View Full Version : What Music Inspires You?
Scarlet Warrior 04-11-2004, 08:50 PM My musical tastes are somewhat alternative and I don't mind a bit of good old fashioned hard rock. :lildevil:
Lately I've been listening to alot of Soundgarden and Audioslave. I also find Red Hot Chili Peppers to be very uplifting. I like listening to this kind of music to put me in a good mood.
What does it for you?
LBurna20770 04-11-2004, 08:57 PM Being a producer and havign to like all music it really depends on what type of mood i am but maybe rap is most uplifting to me depending on who it is.
Good question. I don't really have a particular genre, artist, or band that does it. Usually I'll stumble upon a particular song that does it and listen to it over and over until it doesn't do it any more. The Smashing Pumpkins and Dave Matthews Band have had several songs like that for me. Lately this college station here has been playing some good music, but 90% of the time, I don't know the artist. I kind of have wandering attention span, so most of the time I don't hear them say what song or who the artist was.
Antiphrasis 04-12-2004, 03:22 AM Scarlet,
Audioslave and Soundgarden rock! I saw an Audioslave show last year, Chris was really good.
Other music I listen to is Tool, NIN, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, White Stripes, Gorillaz, and Radiohead.
Smashing Pumpkins pretty good too. =)
Scarlet Warrior 04-12-2004, 07:59 PM Antiphrasis,
Looks like you have excellent taste in music. It's a shame that Soundgarden had to split because I thought they were getting better all the time.
I envy you seeing the Audioslave gig. I've just bought their CD and was very impressed. Hopefully I'll get to see them when they come to OZ. :)
Antiphrasis 04-18-2004, 03:48 AM Scarlet,
Ditto. =)
Yeah it is a shame about Soundgarden. They were a great band... my girlfriend was a big fan, if not the biggest ;), she saw 'em live a few times, and even grabbed Chris's butt once. =)
Scarlet Warrior 04-18-2004, 07:43 PM Antiphrasis,
I've only really been into them for a couple of years now. I owned 'Down on the Upside' for ages, but it took me a while to get into it. Now I have 'Louder than Love' and 'Superunkown' as well.
Also, I didn't think Audioslave would work... I thought Chris's style would clash with the R.A.M band, but they are awesome!
IAFPO 04-18-2004, 08:50 PM I listen to almost all genres of music, except for country, which I don't care for at all. I usually like something high energy, but it really depends on what I am in the mod for.
Sounds that inspire me usually have more to do with the lyrics and what the song is about than the particular style.
For example:
Cause this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless,
what are you gonna do
So say what you want
Say what you want
- Nelly Furtado
Powerless (Say What You Want) Lyrics
"Look. If you had one shot,
or one opportunity,
to seize everything you ever wanted,
in one moment,
would you capture it,
or just let it slip?"
-- Eminem
For me it is the message.
Scarlet Warrior 04-18-2004, 10:57 PM I also like various genres of music, but loathe country. I often listen to older stuff like Lou Reed, Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin. Their lyrics are pretty cool.
Why did Soundgarden split up?
Scarlet Warrior 04-20-2004, 02:32 AM Why did Soundgarden split up?
I'm not sure Tom, but I heard it was an amicable split. Maybe the band members wanted to do their own thing...
