I certainly don't think it is meant to be as complex as we make it nor as meaningful as we wish it to be.

The purpose of life is to sustain life... at least, that's what the biologists tell us...

Some people are just trying to achieve being at peace with their life. Striving for better can be a curse because "Better" is infinite....there is no resolve, yet learning to be happy with what you've got is an even greater challenge than reaching for better.

There is really only one thing we will all achieve and that is death.

We can build castles but just like sandcastles, they will wither and fade. Most of the "contributions" or "Legacy's" people build crumble after they pass. There are a few that last, Gandhi, The Buddha, Christ, Hitler, Stalin, Washington. The list goes on but I am sure that as time passes and ideals change, even these leaders and villains legacy's will fade or change.

Being content with a life well lived is about I really hope to leave.
and that has served me very well.

Tony Robbins asked Wayne Dyer what he hoped people would think of him after he passed and Wayne answer was, I hope they don't. I am paraphrasing but that was the jist of it.

but that's what life is all about.... life means struggle.... if you prefer living in tranquility you've got the same consciousness of a dog....

I think life at it's core is all about finding happiness.
But there are alot of different ways how one can find this happiness.
I think the best way is to find something you are good at and you love, and to do your best to excell at it.
Always have a goal in life, because that gives you purpose

Not to be cliche... Life is what you make it.

It's only purpose is that which you create through your action and inaction. The purpose you put forth is the purpose to your life.

Remember it is YOUR life. You own it, and you guide it. Through your choices your life will be what you made it.

I'm kind of wondering why you're asking alot of those kind of questions? Is it just for discussion purposes or what?

Good stuff. How about Woman to Woman, does it change there or is it basically the same, to drive men crazy?

"Life is meaningless unless you make meaning to it"

What meaning do you want to make out of your life? Do you want to achieve something great in life? Be a bum all day long and enjoy what life may throw at you? Life my friend, is only defined in your own hands.

For me life is only about one thing, which is to worship god by living in accordance to the way he wants me too. This life is a test, and the consequences of this test will be eternal.

how does he want you to live your life?

In accordance to the moral code laid out in the Quran, and the prophetic traditions ( Hadith)

I don't want to hi-jack the thread so if you want to talk more, start a new thread. These topics don't seem to end.

It doesn't matter what life is all about. All that matters is life itself.

Live it to the fullest, make sure everyday, every moment, every second of your life is like a magical dream.

Be compassionate towards those who have trouble finding the right path. Enlighten them!

I have no clue if life has a special meaning.

My life is about making money, getting results, build a fortune and be a skilled investor / entrepreneur and getting the most beautyful women.

I believe in absolute self-responsibility. I believe in results.

So may I define my meaning as life as: Life is creating results!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,

but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW-- What a Ride!"

I can tell you what life is not...
I just spent 7 Looooooong days on a cruise with my religious in-laws.

The religion/denomination doesn't matter because at the end of the day, the blathering all sounds the same, I am right, you are wrong, you are going to burn in hell with God(s) turning His/Her back on you. Not all can be the only one meaning none are the one.

Life is not about fear campaigns that lay heavy sheets of guilt on you creating a life that is weak, shame based and unloving. Yes, Religions are unloving. I said it. This particular religion even supports turning your back on family because they are on the outs by some mortal humans ruling. Sad sad sad.

What is life?
Well, it is what you make of it. It is pure choice.
For some it is a very long death, some it is pain and agony that goes on and on for years, decades and more. For many is is a joyful playground where you explore your mind, your body, your imagination and create using choice. It is something that ends and the end is less important that the path to the end.

Not all can be the only one, meaning, none are the one.

Actually, ALL are "the One." Today, that One equals 7,000,000,000+.

because all are One, none are the only one. It's the individual and group interpretations attempting to differentiate and separate that screw up the meaning of "One."

I totally agree with you on this scoot! i think organised religion is simply a set of rules made by man according to their own beliefs

Life is about love ... and i cant believe God/Allah/Buddah/the universe (whatever you choose to call it) would want any one of the 7+ Billion people now on this planet to live any way other than with love ....

and with helping people ...

this is what MY life is about :thumb:

They are good people, just a little misguided ;)
Father in Law has Lung Cancer so he is looking for anything to comfort. He is still in the denial phase and just realizing he needs to act. Mom in Law needs something to hold on to. Both have been in this religion deep for some time.

Sorry to hear they are not well but next cruise, no in-laws... or religious freaks. I call them freaks because I lived with one, my father.

No one can ever be sure what the true purpose of life for us humans as a whole is but on an individual level, life is whatever you want and believe it to be.

The fact is that no one can prove anything so your guess is as good as anyone elses. If you believe life is suffering, it will be for you. If you believe it's about having fun, you'll have fun. If you believe life is about serving God, then that's what it'll be about.

For me, what I believe what life is about changes as I get older and gain more experience. In grade school, life was about fitting in. In college, life was about learning. After college, life was about work and making money. After my dad passed away, life became about creating moments, cherishing what I have, and spending as much time as I can doing things that make me happy.
