If you won the lottery, would you continue in your current job?

If it were a job I really enjoyed then I would carry on working.

So what would you do?

I would probably work part time and use my spare time to do other things.

Depending on how much money it was, I would invest it in shares and real estate. Hopefully this would provide enough income to support plenty of leisure time. :)

I think before I actually retired, I would try to build some businesses or investments that would give me a good amount of passive or residual income.

No way I would work for anybody if I won the lottery. I'd invest my money wisely and stay at home the rest of my life. And I'd give money to my family too, so that they'd have everything they wanted. =)

Keep working and invest.

Well, define "winning the lottery"

But, if I fell into a lot of money I would quit my job right away. I have a few ideas for companies that I think would work well. I would use the freedom gained through my winnings to step out on my own.
I actually plan on doing this soon anyways... If I can get over my fear :lildevil: that is....

That’s just what I would do to keep busy though. I would take the winnings and buy rental properties. That way my money grows as the economy does and I can live off of the rental income that people/companies pay me. :thumb:

I never want to retire. People who stop working slowly waste away.

I define winning the lottery as winning the jackpot if that clarifies it for you? :D

Well, thats what I thought but theres a difference between winning $1,000,000 and winning $300,000,000.
Winning $1,000,000 sets me up to start my business and gives me some comfort. $300,000,000 sets me up to sit on my butt and do nothing if I want.

True, part of it depends on how much I win. Assuming that I win at least a million dollars (after taking out all the taxes), I would place at least $1 million in the bank and invest it to earn interest, and then never touch it. I would then have all the interest deposited monthly into my checking account.

I, personally, would get bored, so I would continue working, but I would work on things that I enjoy, not having to worry about basic living expenses the rest of my life.

Any money over $1 million will be invested in a couple things. Part of it would be set aside for a trust fund that funds various nonprofit activities. And part of it would be invested in my businesses to make more money.

That way I have:
1.) A permanent nestegg and retirement fund.
2.) A way to contribute to the world beyond my death with the foundation.
3.) A way to get really wealthy since I will invest my money in making more money.

The best of all worlds. :D

What kind of companies are you thinking about?

Its basically just a contracting business done a little differently. Other details will just bore you.

Ok, I was just wondering in what general area you were talking about.

Why kind of contracting? drywall? electrical? woodwork? information technology? building highways? plumbing?

There are a lot of types of contracting. :D

I will start off painting and then work into landscaping and maybe cleaning. It may seem a bit random but it fits into the system I've developed well.

I thought about doing a information technology handyman service too... kinda like "Geeks on Call" but with better and more professional marketing.
But I'm focusing on the trades for now.

An aquaintance of mine has a very successful landscaping business here. They don't cut grass though. They do design and plant trees and build fountains, walls, and walks.

So what would you do?

I would leave my current job as a Spinning Intructor, which I only do part time. I would reinvest my money in , you guessed it, Real Estate. I would also donate lots of money to youth groups and geriatric facilities. Gotta give back, god will bless you in abundance.

Peace,
