Andrew Carnegie said it best. No one can become rich unless he first enriches others.

Today everyone wants to become rich. To have plenty money, to drive a fancy car, to spend more time with their kids. Nothing is wrong with these goals but here is something I want you to know.

If you want to get rich then you need to enrich others. You need to add value to people.

Today we have people with the me mentality. It is all about me, me, me. They are only concerned about themselves.

If you want to get rich you need to change that mentality from me to we. You can achieve more in your life when you focus on other peoples lives.

The greatest salesman knows that in order to sell a lot, you need to focus on the other person and not on what you want.

Learn to add value to people. Think of ways you can add value and help people.

Bill Gates adds value to millions of people which is why he is so rich.

Steve Jobs is the same.

All rich people or most rich people focus on how can i enrich others and not how can I make myself rich..

Focus on this mindset and one day you can become rich!!!

So we all want to be successful right? You can define “success” on the terms of what you value and what is important to you. You may want to be successful in your business, your family, your marriage, your health, your finances. Whatever it is, success is important. It’s important to feel the desire to be successful in life. Success isn’t necessarily defined as wealth, although that can be a part of success. Success is measured for you by what is important to you. Once you know what is important, the next step is to figure out what it means to be successful in what is important to you. Finally, you need to write down your findings and keep a “vision” in front of you of what you would like to become.

Like I said, success is not measured by any one particular thing. Success is very dependent upon what you value. For instance, the businessman who makes millions of dollars, would that make you think “He’s successful”. Or maybe the husband and wife who make it to their 50th wedding anniversary, would you call that successful? It all depends upon your perspective of success. A single person who doesn’t value marriage may say to live with one person for 50 years is not a success! I would disagree, but some people may have that perspective if their values are different. Someone who doesn’t value financial success might say the business man wasted his time working to earn his success in finances. I believe one of the very first steps to success is to define what you value. This step is essential because until you know what you value, you will have no way to measure your success. You will basically be spitting at the wind and “hoping” you are doing the right thing. Once you have your values established, you can define what it means to be successful in your life.

Defining what it means to be successful is the second foundational step for being successful. Knowing your values isn’t enough. You must build on what you value to create the kind of life you want to live. Defining success for what you value can’t be understated. How do you do this? Make a list of the things you value a great deal. Second, find out who or what is the most successful in each of the things you value. That means if you value commitment, search out people who have lived out that value and learn from them via personal contact, their books, or other resources they may offer. Most successful people are perfectly willing to help you and they have resources available. Third, once you decide on your values, find out the steps you need to take to become successful in those values. Success doesn’t happen by default. It always happens because we are intentional about it. Make sure you figure out what you value deeply, find people who are successful at living out those values and model yourself after them, and figure out the steps you need to take to become a success in your values! You can do it.

Finally, keep a vision of what you want to accomplish and who you want to become. Why do you think successful people tend to flock together? One is the power of association, iron always sharpens iron. The second reason is because when you get around other successful people, you keep success in front of you. In other words, you continually put visions of what you want to become in front of you. This principle cannot be overstated either. If you really want to accomplish all that’s in your heart to do so, you must keep a mental picture or vision of that success in your mind and think about it often. The top 20% of income earners were once polled about what they thought about most of the time. What they thought about most of the time was their goal, their ultimate vision. If you want to build a successful life based upon your values, you need to keep that picture in your mind and think about it often.

Shortly after Walt Disney passed away, Disney World opened up for the first time. Walt never lived to see his vision fulfilled. Upon the opening day, it is reported that Walt’s wife was asked, “Do you think it’s sad that Walt never got to see all of this come about?” Walt’s wife answered, “Yes, he did see it.” What surely had certain values he decided early on were important to him. He also had people around him that he would look to and learn from their success. Just like Walt’s wife said, he had already seen his vision clearly far before it had ever become a reality. That’s the power of keeping a mental picture of your vision in front of you and thinking about it often.

What is the number 1 enemy to success. Now everyone have their definition of success and everyone will love to be a success but what is the number 1 enemy to success.

The question should not be what but actually who is the number 1 enemy to success.

And the answer is you!!! That's right it is you and me. We are our own worst enemies. Most of the time, the enemy is the inner me. We are the number 1 enemy of success.

We don't achieve what we want and we are quick to blame the economy, our neighbor, our parents, everybody except ourselves.

If we will learn to take responsibility for our life and stop playing the blame game, we will realize that we are the number 1 enemy to success and if we will swallow our pride and ask for help when we need it or change our game plan when it needs changing we will become a success.

Stop blaming external circumstances and start looking at the man in the mirror and tell him that he is responsible for your success and no one else!!!

Do you have a thinking place? It's a simple question, but it's important to understand the power of possessing a thinking place. First of all, the definition of a thinking place is any place you can get away consistently by yourself to think. Thus, the title: thinking place. I know, it's super complicated. But's it's super important. Leadership expert John Maxwell says, “Rarely do ideas come fully formed and completely worked out. Most of the time, they need to be shaped until they have substance (Thinking for a Change).” If that's true, we need to take time to shape and frame our thoughts everyday. To really be most effective, we have to find a place to remove distractions or where our mind functions at optimum capacity.

Where do I find a thinking place?

This is where finding a thinking place can get exciting. It's entirely up to you! Like we said, you really just need to find a place where your mind can function at it's highest capacity. For me, I like coffee shops. Too many distractions come for me at a restaurant, but too little sitting behind a rock somewhere. I occasionally go some place very quiet with no one else when I really need to get some serious thinking done, maybe once a week. More than often, I spend a lot of time in a quiet coffee shop. It keeps me focused, yet I am not tempted to daydream.

What if I can't think of anything?

John Maxwell says, “If you go to your thinking place expecting to generate good thoughts, then eventually you will come up with some.” Don't worry too much about generating thoughts when you are first starting out finding and taking out 30-60 minutes a day dedicated to thinking at your thinking place. The more you worry about it, the less likely you are to think quality thoughts.

What should I do once I get there?

Probably one of the best things you can do is to write down the top three things that are pressing at the time according to their priority. Once you get to your thinking place, focus and brainstorm on how to do whatever it is you need to do for each item on the list, starting with the most important objective. Write down all of your brainstorming and then begin to make a plan of some sort of actually doing something about the objective. The main purpose of your thinking place is to get your mind working. The more you create space in your day to think well, the more you will think well. Solving problems will become easier and easier.

What should I do when I get done?

Keep your thoughts on hand and write them down. If you have easily solved a simple problem, go ahead and take action. If you are still wrestling with some ideas, don't take action. One effective practice is to take your thoughts to other good thinkers you know for suggestions. They may be able to help you see things you haven't seen before. Developing a thinking place is a very exciting journey. Not only will you most definitely be more effective in every part of your life, but your will be developing yourself into a good thinker. The better thinker you become, the better your life will be.
Now don't you like that quote? I am sure you like that a lot. It is a
good thing to ponder on to start your week.

If we would just go the extra mile in trying, we will accomplish a
lot. Some people complain how much they are trying and are not seeing results.
They tend to quit very quickly. If they had just taken a few more steps, they may have triumphed.

Why not try today to do that little umph.

Do 1% more.
Be 1% quicker today.
Act 1% wiser.

Just do that little bit more and you can go from try to triumph!!!

I'm planning on taking three road trips later this month to see some colors:
1. Medicine Bow National Forrest in Wyoming.
2. Roosevelt National Forrest in Nothern Colorado.
3. Rocky Mountain National Park..
4. Gunnison, San Isabel, Arapaho, and Pike National forrest ..Marroon Bells in Aspen and surrounding areas.

We don't get a lot of variation in color the way the east coast and midwest does, mostly just yellow...but if you are willing to drive far and wide, you can find some patches of orange. I'm on a mission to find the orange and red!

Can't wait to see your pictures!

At the same time , I'm really really trying hard to focus on my goals but i just tend to forget about it and back to being this happy-go-lucky type of a person.

My older sister, Kathi, who is my one strong anchor and only sibling to share my parent's health and life issues with, most likely has cancer. She has a 4"x2" mass on a lymph node near her groin. They did an ultra sound and have decided to remove it. A surgeon reviewed the ultrasound and told her they will remove it and dissect it into several sections to biopsy it to determine what kind of lymphoma (cancer of the lymph system) it is. Not if she has lymphoma, but what kind (there are two kinds). So even though he cannot come right out and say she has it, and no official test has come back saying she has it, his experience in doing this is telling him she does and he needs to know what kind. It is very stressful and confusing. Oh, and they discovered a mass under her arm, too, which is another place lymphoma oftem presents itself. :(

Anyway, the surgery is this Wed. (two days from now), and they will have the initial biopsy results on Friday. She cannot meet with her Dr. until next week.

I am in a bit of denial right now so typing this has helped face it a little. I need to focus on my job for today. And every day I work, I have to put my personal life away on a shelf somewhere in my head. Which I'm going to do now because I need to go study some material before hitting the shower & going to work.

Let's pray/hope for a miracle, that the surgeon is wrong.

It is very important that we set goals. Here are some of the reason why we should set goals.

1. It gives you direction.

If you dont have goals you wont really have a direction you are heading in so it is very important that you goals to know where you should be heading.

2. It makes life worthwhile.

Some people today have lost their will to live and if they had just tried to achieve some goals they might begin to see life differently. Jim Rohn said the greatest pull on your life should be the pull of the future.

3. It just makes sense

Most people have no list of goals that they want to achieve. It just makes sense to write down what we want to achieve because we will end up just living life day to day and at the end of our life we will be thinking of all the things we should have done but failed to do.

This is just a small list and I am sure you all can add to this list but the main thing is that we should set goals.

I then spent about a year or so being depressed about it beating myself up, thinking that my situation was hopeless.

Earlier this year, I started reading up on self-help and motivation. About how our life is our responsibility and how we can rebuild ourselves. So I have finally decided to take action and rebuild my life to a point where I am happy with all areas of my life (career, social, emotional, etc).

Hopefully I can contribute and would appreciate any advice from anyone who has hit rock bottom the way I have but climbed out of it. Cheers.

1. Get a personal development course that can assist you to become motivated
2. Learn to respect that and expect that you have weaknesses
3. Associate with positive people only. Sometimes positive people will tell you things you may not like but need to hear
4. Learn to listen. It is said in the bible to be quick to listen, slow to anger and slow to speak. That is good advice.
5. Try to make your work as interesting and enjoyable as possible.
6. Learn to relax and entertain yourself sometimes. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.
7. Have a list of your priorities so you know what you should be doing
8. Learn to accept and not fear change. Change is inevitable
9. Most important is to put your trust in God. When things go bad you need that higher power with you.

Now you don't need to be a rocket scientist to follow these steps. Anyone can do these things and if you just apply 1 or 2 of these techniques, then I am sure you will be able to say that you feel a lot better about yourself.

Does Think and Grow Rich work?

Let me be honest with you. I am sure that many of you have read this book by Napoleon Hill. It is probably regarded by many as the Number 1 book in self help however there are many people who believe that it does not work. They say that most people who have read it have never become rich so that means it does not work.

Now in my opinion if someone reads a book and it does not change their life that does not necessarily mean that the book is flawed nor does it stop it from being effective. It could be that the person is in a stage of their life where they are not ready to digest such information.

Also in this book it is more than just money but it is about principles that can help you achieve anything you want if you are willing to follow through.

Just because many people read the Bible and it does not change the way they live that does not stop it from being effective. Think and grow rich even though I may not agree with everything in the book, I believe that most of those principles if we really apply them to our lives can really change the way we live our lives and it can make a huge difference in achieving our goals or not.

So what do you think? Does Think and Grow Rich work. Most people have used the principles in think and grow rich without even reading the book. Some have acquired like myself degrees in computing, some have built a business, some have attracted their lover.

The principles do work if you apply them. Talk back to me on this.
She was about 16 years old, so she had a long life, but I sure hope the rest of my vacation goes better.

Hello,

I have used forums like these before. The one I was a member of before no longer exists. So here I am. Hoping that I can get some support, some edge.

I am 6'2 and weight 375 pounds. I am 23. I have a full time job, and a car. I have family in the area. I have access to a gym/pool/walking paths next to river. I hate veggies, can't eat them.

Two months ago I decided I needed to change. I am not going to bore you with the abuse that happened as a child, I was adopted at 11, and it took me till now to have the emotional focus to look at my weight. I make no excuses, it's my fault. I take ownership of my weight.

I travel a lot, and two months ago I realized that younger people are looking up to me, (my job has me working with a -lot- of youth). I also realized that my little sister who is almost 3 (also adopted), is going to mimic my habits. I don't want her to get to see my fat as a normal thing. I want her to be healthy. I want to be healthy.

I lied in the post, it was more like one month ago. One month ago I decided to cut out soda completely, I also decided to cut out all fast food (but Subway, and only select sandwiches at subway). You may roll your eyes at these steps, they were large habit changers for me. And I have kept them perfectly. I also have limited myself to one sugar drink, and one sugar food per day. This was also a big deal for me.

I am having a hard time figuring this stuff out myself. I don't know where to start. I have failed to insert exercise into my daily life. I can't get a start at it for some reason.

Where should I go from here? I am not looking for a quick fix, I am looking for habit changing behaviors. I want to change, I want to be healthy.

I am drinking about 1.5 liters of fiji water a day.

I am somewhat depressed.

I have been cleaning a lot.

I am a Christian.

Seemingly I have people who care/and support me.

I don't want to die.

I've lived what most people consider a crazy life. I built my house all by myself with minimal external help and zero experience with any form of construction, I went to France to work as a raft guide with no experience on small, steep, cold, technical rivers and no knowledge of the French language, I moved to Colorado for my paramedic training prepared to live in my van with no money and no job possibilities when I returned to Canada.... and there's a long list of other examples.

But I've always taking on these challenges with almost no degree of nervousness at all. My motto is "if it can be done, it can be done by me".

Yesterday though, me and a few of my buddies took my truck and 16' flatbed trailer to pick up my new maple syrup evaporator.

Last year I tapped 120 maple trees and made about 80 liters of syrup with my small hobbiest evaporator. But this year I decided to step it up and tap 1000 trees with a new (used) evaporator. My previous evaporator was 2'x6' but my new evaporator is 4'x14'. My maple shack is only 16' long!

My new evaporator is made of cast iron and stainless steel with about 1000 pounds of firebrick. The chimney is 12" in diameter and 30' high. I completely loaded the truck AND trailer and still only had collected about a third of the equipment. Every piece involved with this equipment can only be moved by a minimum of 4 people.

Tasks ahead of me include: tearing down a wall of my sugar shack so I can get the evaporator in there, finding 6-8 friends to help me move it, rebuilding the shack so it is 8' longer, cleaning all the old motar off of the fire bricks, figuring out how all the pieces fit together again, cutting holes in the roof to accept the smoke chimney and 2 steam chimneys, lifting the 30' long, 200 pound chimney into place, and connecting the evaporator to the 1200 gallon sap holding tanks. Then I have to figure out how all this stuff actually works!

This is all before I even consider making syrup. To do this I have to learn how to tap 1000 trees and run the lines (using gravity only) back to the shack.

Anyway, all of this to say, as I was looking at and loading all of this stuff, I finally felt nervous, anxious, stressed and overwhelmed by the challenge ahead of me. And I have to admit, I didn't like feeling this way very much!

I'm not sure what the point is to this post. I'm not looking for advice. I know what I need to do... Just like building the Ark, I can't think of the entire process all at once. "I'll NEVER be able to do all of that!" Instead I have to break the challenge ahead of me into manageable tasks. First I need to focus on collecting the rest of the equipment and bringing that shack wall down so we can get the evaporator into the shack. On September 25th, I'm hosting a trail race here where I'm sure I'll be able to secure enough guys to help me move the evaporator into the building.

And that's where I need to stop thinking! Those 2 jobs are big ones, but with my plan, they'll be easy-peasy.

The stress and anxiety being caused by this challenge is new to me and although I don't like it, I have to admit it's a little bit exciting. It's kind of like a suspenseful movie... I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next!

I certainly expect to learn a thing or two along this journey, and if I come across anything I think will benefit others, I'll share it here.
