Cat, that was a nice Toastmaster "Icebreaker'! But I didn't see it answering any of the questions.

    1. I still don't know What you think about money right now - You mentioned some things you want it to do for you in the future - but what does it do for you now?

    2. What does it do *to* you? How does money make you feel? You told us how it used to make you feel, but how does it make you feel now?

    3. I didn't find out if you have enough. You want more, but who doesn't? Do you have enough? How does that make you feel? If you answered that you don't have enough, why don't you have enough?

    4. You didn't describe any problems you encounter with money? What difficulties arise because you have enough or don't have enough? What is the cause of you having enough or not having enough?

    Have another go.
Okay, giving this another go....

    1) I like money! Money is good. Money lets me help others, it lets me buy groceries without worrying what they cost. It lets me travel. It feels good to have money, compared to not having money. It makes me feel very grateful for having money and being able to do all I mentioned above.

    2) Like Scooter, I don't really like the wording of that question. So, I'll answer it in Scooter fashion as well. I have learned that I control how I feel about money. Money itself doesn't make me feel any way in particular. I used to despise it, now I value it. I have talked many times about this, in these forums and the mind shift I made to get into this new headspace about money. I feel empowered to have money now. I learned that it is all in how one views money, that can empower us or we can allow it to let us feel dis-empowered. I choose to feel empowered by having money now. I chose to feel gratful for having it. I chose to use it to better my life and those around me in as many ways as possible....

    3) Yes, I have enough right now and want to keep it that way. I am grateful for everything I have in my life, not just money. As we know - being grateful, brings more into your life to be grateful for. For me, gratitude is key in attracting more financial abundance into my life.

    4) Like Meredith... the problems I have encountered with money are some people are drawn to you, only because you have money. (Users). Others who are jealous, use their resentment to push you away. Also people DO treat you better when you have money... You tend to get better service, more offered to you. People are more willing to bend over backwards to get your business....etc. That is their baggage though. I have learned to not let someone else's interpretation of my financial picture sway me into being or acting any different from who I am in my core being. I don't think I am better than anyone else because I have money....

The cause of having enough or not enough, is all a state of mind. That can be changed at any time.

Reading Suzy Orman's book "Nine Steps To Financial Freedom" opened my eyes and her questions are VERY in-depth. She gets you thinking back to what your parents views were on money, how that affected you growing up, what limiting beliefs about money you currently hold, etc. I already did that excerise in her book. I see where my limiting beliefs were. I no longer have those limiting beliefs, since I did your life purpose exercise. On the radio just now Sachmo is singing "What a wonderful world". That is how I feel. Even when I was without money, I always held the belief that things would work out and they always did. What you believe, you can achieve....

Money is the means by which I feed, clothe, transport, and entertain myself and my family. Money is the means by which I purchase wonderful conveniences such as internet service. Money allows me to communicate with others by telephone. Money allows me the flexibility to choose whether to go to my 25th high school reunion or crew a UPW event this summer.

Money becomes a catalyst for good feelings when I am able to provide it to my girls so they can do the things they want to do.

No, I do not have enough money. I feel neutral about not having enough money because I am responsible for the situation that I am in right now. I say that I don't have enough money because sometimes I run low on money between paydays. There's no denying that reality. I am a single mother supporting 2 daughters. My biological daughter gets $220/month in social security survivor's benefits. My adopted daughter gets no financial assistance from her biological family.

As I mentioned before, I run low on money between paydays sometimes. That's a problem if there is an unexpected expense. The cause of me not having enough money is that up until now I have chosen to settle for not having enough money.

Good job, Cat. I haven't read anything of Suzy Orman, although I have watched her a little on television. What you describe above is my second step. I do like to get everyone thinking about their current situation first, before embarking on what we grew up with.

Oh! Jules! This is so superb! This is exactly the remark I have been hoping for someone to make. Super! Super! Super!

Let us pause while everyone absorbs the significance of that remark.
